Job Description

Equinox is seeking a Sr. UX Researcher to deliver human-centered insights that inform and shape our digital experiences.

The Sr. UX Researcher will use a mixed-methods approach to design and conduct research studies, uncovering customer pain points and identifying opportunities for growth and innovation. This role spans the entire product lifecycle, from generative to evaluative research, delivering high-quality and impactful insights in a creative and compelling way.

As a researcher embedded within the Product Design Team, you will collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, product managers, and data analysts to understand user needs and create the best user experiences for prospects and members. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, agile, and have a growth mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ideation and development of innovative products across app, website, connected hardware, and wearables through a squad-based iterative design process.
  • Lead the design and execution of research studies from start to finish (e.g., develop screeners, create discussion guides, manage recruitment, and moderate sessions) that address user attitudes and behavior throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research using in-person and remote moderated interviews, unmoderated studies, ethnographies, surveys, contextual inquiries, co-creation sessions, card sorts, concept testing, and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, operations, and business teams.
  • Deliver and communicate human-centered insights, findings, and recommendations that inform and shape our product strategy creatively and compellingly.
  • Present insights at both executive and team levels, being able to dive deep into details as needed and provide high-level summaries for quick decision-making.
  • Possess a customer-first mindset, with the ability to think quickly on your feet during conversations and discern when to treat the user as a participant versus a paying customer.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience synthesizing findings and translating insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a curious mindset.
  • Proficiency with remote research and survey tools such as UserTesting.com, Qualtrics, and Alida.
  • Expertise in data analysis including pivot tables using Excel and cross tabs analysis for survey reports with segmentation. Exceptional skills in Excel.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills for statistical significance trend analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong active listening and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to track research projects in Airtable.
  • Positive attitude and passion for storytelling.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding of the evolving digital landscape.
  • Highly motivated and self-managed with a strong analytical ability and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to understand, challenge, and enhance product design thinking while staying true to the voice of the consumer.
  • Anticipate user needs through creative, curious, and passionate thinking with a clear vision for both short-term and long-term business goals.
  • Commitment to delivering the best experience for our end users and the business.

Technical

    • Conduct member interviews for new features and flows, including moderated with members and unmoderated UserTesting.com research
    • Conduct CSAT reports and analysis, research readouts, and pulse checks for app and website sentiment.
    • Conduct generative member interviews on an ongoing basis.
