We are seeking a highly experienced Brazil Indirect Tax Senior Manager to lead and implement changes related to Brazil's VAT tax reform while ensuring compliance and mitigating tax risks in a complex and rapidly evolving business. This role will be responsible for identifying and mitigating indirect tax risks, advising on tax planning opportunities, and ensuring compliance with all indirect tax obligations.

The ideal candidate must have strong tax technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with local and global stakeholders. This role offers an opportunity to drive strategic tax initiatives, optimize compliance processes, and contribute to the company's overall financial success.

What you will be doing

Strategic Tax Leadership & Planning

Lead the implementation of Brazil's VAT tax reform, ensuring the business is well prepared for legislative changes and process/system updates.

Act as a strategic tax partner to senior leadership, aligning tax strategies with business objectives to support decision-making.

Identify opportunities for tax optimization and proactively advise on indirect tax planning strategies for business expansion and operational efficiency.

Risk Management & Audit Handling

Proactively identify and mitigate indirect tax risks, implementing strategies to minimizefinancial and operational exposure.

Manage and represent the company in tax audits, inquiries, and disputes, collaborating with tax authorities, tax controversy team, legal teams, and external advisors.

Ensure timely and accurate responses to regulatory requests, minimizing potential financial impacts.

Compliance & Reporting

Oversee and ensure the accurate and timely filing of all indirect tax obligations for multiple subsidiaries in Brazil.

Manage the tax analysis and calculation of Brazil Indirect Taxes across Municipal, State, and Federal filings (i.e., ICMS, ISS, PIS, COFINS, and VAT-equivalent taxes).

Implement internal controls to ensure compliance with tax laws and reduce the risk of errors or penalties.

Process & Technology Optimization

Collaborate with IT and finance teams to implement tax engine, enhance automation tools and process improvements that enhance indirect tax compliance efficiency.

Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in Brazil to ensure tax systems and processes remain up to date.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with finance, legal, operations, IT, and procurement teams to ensure tax compliance and optimize business transactions.

Serve as a trusted advisor on tax-related matters, providing clear guidance to internal stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor the local indirect tax team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Manage a team of 2-3 tax professionals, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.

What we'll expect from you

Solid previous experience in indirect tax, with a strong focus on Brazilian VAT and other indirect taxes plus working experience with BIG 4 and/or corporate tax department is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field.

Advanced English.

In-depth knowledge of Brazilian indirect tax laws, including ICMS, ICMS-ST, PIS, COFINS, ISS, and the upcoming VAT tax reform.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax laws in a business setting, both in Portuguese and English.

Ability to analyze and solve complex tax issues, providing clear, strategic guidance.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with excellent time management and project management skills.

Proficiency in technology, including Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems (i.e. Oracle Cloud), and tax engine or automation tools.

Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, global organization.
