Senior Staff Python Automation Engineer (Tableau)
Job Summary
We are currently seeking a candidate for a role that primarily focuses on maintaining the application servers with deployments and user management for the Tableau application. We are in the process of digital transformation to implement automation, self-healing, and self-service capabilities using scripting languages such as Python and Bash with DevOps tools integration as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, k8s, Docker. As a result, the role will increasingly involve architecting solutions, programming, automation tools, and other related knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Lead Tableau and Power BI server maintenance including deployments, user management, and solving performance issues
- Establish and maintain Tableau governance processes, policies, and guidelines
- Develop tools and automation Python/Bash scripts and processes to deliver on the goals and transformation of the department
- Implementation of DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Ansible, SonarQube) and collaboration with other departments to streamline and automate the environment build, user access, deployments, alerts and monitoring
- Define roles and responsibilities for the organization's data in compliance with business and regulatory requirements
- Plan and complete Tableau & Power BI deployments, ensuring alignment with the organization's analytics vision
- Review and adapt policies and procedures to meet changing business needs
- Collaborate with technology team members to craft, build, and support data/reporting/analytics systems and infrastructure
- Research and assist with scaling new data analytics products, such as R Studio Server, within the department
- Plan disaster recovery and backup strategies for Tableau and Power BI environments
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate cloud to on-premise applications
- Produce and continuously improve reporting and analytics databases/data warehouses to serve a diverse range of consumers
- Handle shift responsibilities, including on-call rosters, shift rotations (including night shifts), and occasional weekend work for maintenance and deployment activities
- The right candidate would be trained further on the Tableau and Power BI server maintenance if they possess strong programming skills, analytics background and experience, understanding of the Tableau architecture
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of Software Engineering experience
- Experience with server and gateway maintenance for Tableau and Power BI
- Strong solving skills for performance issues in Tableau and Power BI
- Excellent knowledge of Linux and Bash scripting
- Intermediate experience on Python with 3 years of experience
- Intermediate knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, k8s, and Docker
- Proven experience in Tableau Server architecture discussions
- Experience with application installations, upgrades, and migrations within virtualized environments
- Excellent understanding of disaster recovery & backup strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to efficiently collaborate with team members and customers
- Extensive integration and server-side integration and maintenance experience
- Experience integrating cloud and on-premise applications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced distributed team environment with minimal direction
- Flexible to work as per the requirements of a Global Organization
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of other analytics and visualization tools like QlikView, Looker, or Domo
- Knowledge of cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery)
- Experience with other programming languages such as Java, React, Javascript
- Understanding of statistical analysis and analytics techniques
