Senior Staff App and Database Administrator

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with at least 10+ years of extensive experience in various database management fields. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle RAC & Patching, Exadata platform Familiarity, advanced database administration, performance tuning, and high-availability solutions. This role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of our mission-critical databases. DBA must have strong Python Scripting (or comparable scripting language) skills. This role is critical for ensuring our mission-critical databases' optimal performance, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Automation: Responsible for git-based scripting/automation in Python (or comparable scripting language) to implement automated database engineering, including automated DB provisioning, monitoring, reliability mgmt., maintenance, patching, and user requests self-service handling
  • Advanced Database Administration: Oversee the administration, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle environments on Linux or Exadata with strong RAC knowledge
  • Performance Optimization: Apply advanced techniques for database performance tuning and optimization, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and system resource management
  • Backup and Recovery: Design and implement robust backup and recovery solutions, including disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity
  • High Availability and Scalability: Configure and manage high-availability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard, Real Application Clusters (RAC)
  • Security Management: Develop and enforce comprehensive security policies for database access, encryption, and auditing
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks, corruption issues, and critical failures
  • Capacity Planning and Growth: Analyze current and future database capacity requirements and plan for scalability to accommodate growth and evolving business needs
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation of database architectures, configurations, and processes. Provide regular reports on database performance and status
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and other IT stakeholders to support and enhance database-driven applications and services

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are highly desirable

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with Oracle Exadata environments Familiarity and a broad range of database management areas
  • 5+ years of Proven track record in performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high-availability solutions
  • Experience with other Oracle technologies and database management systems is a plus
  • 5+ years of Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, with advanced troubleshooting skills
  • 3+ years of Strong familiarity with Oracle enterprise Manager (OEM) and other monitoring and management tools like Service Now
  • 5+ years of experience in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation and optimization tasks with end-end framework design capabilities
  • 5+ Years of Strong familiarity with SOX compliance, AWS RDS & Postgres databases, and Exasol with Capacity planning
  • 5+ years of Proficiency in OKV and TDE Encryption, with advanced troubleshooting skills, Oracle Database, OS Home and Grid Patching

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and spoken English fluency, with the ability to document and present database solutions to global technical teams
  • Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality results under pressure
