Senior Director, Technical Marketing

Job Summary:

Reporting to Equinix's VP, Product Marketing, the Senior Director, Technical Marketing will provide strategic direction and vision for Equinix's technical marketing initiatives in colocation, networking, AI and cloud technologies, aligning closely with product management, engineering, and sales teams to drive business objectives and revenue growth. Integrating across Equinix's Go-To-Market engine, this leader will establish strong cross-functional relationships and will build world-class content. This individual will lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of technical marketing professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Market Insights: Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and customer needs in the colocation, networking, and cloud sectors. Conduct market analysis and competitive research to inform product positioning and go-to-market strategies.
  • Content Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy, encompassing whitepapers, solution briefs, presentations, webinars, and other collateral, to effectively communicate the value proposition of Equinix's solutions to customers and partners.
  • Sales Enablement: Collaborate closely with sales leadership and GTM Readiness team to develop sales enablement programs on technical content and tools, equipping sales teams with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively articulate the benefits of Equinix's solutions and drive revenue growth.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Equinix as a thought leader and subject matter expert at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings. Build strong relationships with industry influencers and stakeholders to enhance Equinix's visibility and credibility in the market.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, technical sales, marketing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies.

Specific Outcomes and Responsibilities Include:

  • Grow Equinix's Data Center Services and Digital Services businesses especially for multi-cloud networking software, AI, sustainability and Next-Gen Data Center efforts
  • Serve as a key contributor to Sales Plays that Equinix's CRO organization is driving
  • Drive technical thought leadership and Digital Campaigns in Global Marketing
  • Help win deals for Fabric/FCR, Metal and MCNs under Digital Services
  • Further establish Equinix as a key technology provider/leader
  • Lead the Technical Marketing team globally for key deliverables, including:
    • Whitepapers
    • Validated design guides
    • Integration best-practice documents
    • Demos
    • Meetups and hackathons
    • Competitive assets like battle cards, bake offs
    • Speaking at industry events and conference

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in technical marketing, product management, or related roles within the data center, networking, or cloud industry.
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management, with experience leading and developing high performing, distributed technical marketing teams.
  • Leadership and coaching skills to build a high performing technical marketing organization.

  • Deep expertise in colocation, networking, and cloud technologies, with a strong understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and customer needs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and business value propositions to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for driving innovation and excellence.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $201,000 to $341,000 per year
• California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $197,000 to $335,000 per year
• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $182,000 to $310,000 per year

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
