Job Summary:
Equinix is rapidly growing globally, and Malaysia is one of strategic focal points for our expansion initiatives. To support this ambitious growth trajectory, it is crucial to onboard a transformational leader for the Kuala Lumpur (KL) operations team. This role will not only oversee the current KL1 data center but will also be pivotal in ensuring that new expansions are delivered on time and meet the high standards expected of Equinix.
As the Data Center Manager, you will lead a team of various engineers, guiding them towards achieving operational excellence. A key aspect of this role is striving towards an ideal state of operating data centers with zero downtime, which is essential for maintaining Equinix's reputation for reliability and performance. You will be responsible for executing financial plans, business strategies, and organizational priorities while managing workforce dynamics to ensure optimal performance and alignment with Equinix's growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
Team Management
- Manages a team of customer operations engineers, critical facilities engineers, and cross-functional professionals
- Manages teams to work safely, effectively and with high regard to human error avoidance
- Oversee personnel management functions, including performance evaluations, role positioning, employee reviews, mentoring, and professional development
Site Management
- Supervise regular preventative maintenance activities
- Develop and manage routine operational plans, ensuring targets are met in alignment with monthly objectives
- Implement innovative strategies to proactively address and prevent potential issues.
Incident Management
- Strive for zero downtime in the mission-critical facility environments
- Communicate and coordinate activities with on-site staff during incidents
- Supervise root cause analysis and help resolve incidents effectively
- Implement emergency and disaster mitigation strategies
Project Management
- Manage complex projects to include project budget and scope and designate work to team
- Work with global and regional team to support various initiatives and projects
Service Management
- Participate in discussion on fit-out within customer licensed spaces from datacenter operation point of view
- Participate in regular meeting with customer to establish healthy relationship
Vendor Management
- Oversees contractor work and operations to ensure completion to Equinix's required standards, (KPI's) Key Performance Indicators and (SLA's) Service Level Agreements
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies throughout vendor management process, conducting regular audits and assessments to maintain standards
Testing
- Ensures correct processes are followed and all documentation is complete
- Takeover of new builds and building infrastructure
- Develop and review all (MOP) Maintenance Operation Protocol scripts
Requirements:
- Typically, over 10 years of relevant experience in Data Center or Mission Critical Facilities industries
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a diverse team, leveraging proven managerial experience to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and provide effective solutions to incidents
- Proven experience in vendor management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies
