Project and Program Senior Manager

Job Summary

Works with program sponsors and key stakeholders, to define program objectives and scope.

Plans, monitors, manages programs and projects from initiation through to completion. Secures required resources, uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, issues, changes. Manages programs and projects to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs.

Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Manages a number of programs EMEA GOE project deployment across EMEA (i.e. ESH, DCIM..)
  • Works with numerous stakeholders, understands their needs and builds effective relationships
  • Applies a range of approaches to planning and gathering information in which to develop/facilitate/lead more complex business cases, plans and schedules
  • Uses a variety of communications methods to deliver information relevant to the audience and programs / projects needs
  • Has an approach to risk management that spans projects level up to strategic risk management where required
  • When faced with issues, applies lateral thinking and analyses available information to solve problems and engages with teams to resolve
  • Problem solves resource/budgetary issues with internal teams and external suppliers and conclude disputes successfully and independently
  • Project nature is likely to be a mix of end-of-life, deferred and minor expansion projects (project value < 10M$), energy efficiency, BCM, DCIM, SPOFs, Remediation, Global Enablement initiatives, etc.

Project Manager Coaching

  • Mentors junior program / project team members in project management
  • Implements functional PMO-level concepts, standards, processes, training and tools, for continual improvement of the PPM maturity model
  • Reviews and documents lessons learned to drive PMO-level project improvements
  • Acts as an escalation point to any Project Manager
  • Feeds back to the country Operations Leads about their Project Managers' performance

Communications

  • Uses a variety of communications methods to deliver information relevant to the audience and project needs
  • Is fully aware of standardized tools and template requirements and is a 'go to' person for feedback on the development of project/program management standards

Be The Liaison For

  • Fosters smooth information flows from any global program owner, not limited to the Operations CoEs, to the country teams
  • Feeds the global program owners with ad hoc reporting for the EMEA program status to be up to date, permanently and consistently reported back
  • Is a natural go to person for anyone aiming at getting a given EMEA program overview at a glance

Qualifications

  • Proven experience of program / project management, ideally in the data centre, alternatively in mission critical, IT, network sectors
  • PM certification(s) is a plus
  • Full mastery of standardized program / project management tools and templates, is a 'go to' person for feedback on the development of program / project management standards
  • Extensive knowledge of the processes, systems that underpin the data centre business and more specifically the Equinix way to operate

Skills and Attributes

  • Focus on results - establishing high standards for performance, setting goals and developing plans, following through and being accountable for results
  • Competent in the use of planning tools, considers and develops cross functional plans
  • Effectively communicates progress of programs / projects
  • Demonstrates influencing skills to achieve solutions and dealing with challenging stakeholder situations
  • Financial acumen, ability to connect program objectives to financial results, fluent with project budget management
