Job Summary
We are seeking a Manager for our FR9X hyperscale data center in Frankfurt. This role involves leading a team of managers within data center customer operations team. You will establish operational objectives, policies, procedures, and work plans, delegating assignments to your team. You will also develop, modify, and execute company policies that impact immediate operations and may have broader implications across the organization. Additionally, you will be accountable for the department budget, which can significantly influence the business segment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and direction to the team, ensuring alignment with business needs for growth
  • Set functional and developmental objectives for team members
  • Enhance stakeholder management and communication, addressing any issues that arise
  • Strive to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction

Communications

  • Oversee a team responsible for diverse communication tasks
  • Stay attuned to executive communication needs
  • Encourage the team to balance effective communication with considerations of volume, frequency, and content

Risk Management

  • Serve as an escalation point within the team
  • Promote lateral thinking and thorough analysis to resolve issues
  • Refer matters outside the immediate team when necessary

Resource Management (people, finances, etc.)

  • Collaborate with leadership to establish KPIs and metrics
  • Manage resource planning across project teams, including personnel, finances, and vendor bids
  • Lead experienced professionals and potentially subordinate managers
  • Foster a safe and effective work environment with a focus on minimizing human error
  • Handle personnel matters, including salaries, positioning, hiring/firing, reviews, mentoring, and development
  • Lead project management and incident resolution efforts

Leadership Characteristics of The Role

  • Demonstrates and instills the Equinix culture and values
  • Establishes operational objectives, policies, procedures, and work plans while delegating assignments effectively
  • Accountable for the department budget, impacting the broader business segment

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior business leaders
  • Strong management background
  • Mastery of standardized tools and practices
  • Extensive knowledge of the processes and systems that underpin the data center business, particularly the Equinix operational model
  • Experience in operations/site management and vendor cost management
  • Fluent in both German and English

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to organize resources effectively to manage concurrent requests from a variety of internal and external customers.
