Manager, Critical Facilities- Cross Functional

Job Summary

We are looking for a manager within the Cross Functional Team in Amsterdam. This sits within our wider Operations Team and supports/ collaborates with key Data Centre stakeholders to enhance operational excellence. We oversee budget, asset management, training, quality assurance, security operations, and continuous improvement. Our aim? We want to ensure the highest operational standards and compliance with global standards.

You would be responsible for managing a team of subject matter experts and ensuring their effective performance and development. This role requires strong, thoughtful leadership and a communication style that allows you to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, both internal and external. Do you have good technical knowledge, preferably from a data center background? Are you an experienced leader with and engineering background. We want data analysis to be your thing! Our team embraces change, and you must have a continuous improvement mindset in all that you do.

Responsibilities

Be a leader

  • Manage a team of subject matter experts, providing guidance and support to ensure their success. We do not just manage; we lead and listen
  • Coach team members through regular one-on-one meetings and assist in their professional development
  • Maintain a high level of adaptability and encourage interconnectivity among teams
  • Foster employee engagement and prepare for future-proofing the team
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking, encouraging team members to bring about positive change
  • Lead by example, supporting other teams during times of need

Be a communicator

  • Lead the investigation of technical issues, conduct root cause analyses, and develop strategies to prevent future problems
  • Communicate effectively on an international level, participating in global cross-functional engineering managers' meetings
  • Engage with EMEA cross-functional engineers to share best practices and discuss relevant topics
  • We are GLOBAL! Equinix is a global company and our emphasis is on seeing ourselves as part of the world wide business

The technical "stuff"

  • Proficiency in engineering (highly desirable) and data analysis, with experience working in Maximo/Siebel
  • Manage complex troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Utilize data analysis skills to work in Maximo and ensure alignment with team objectives
  • Drive global initiatives and ensure successful implementation across teams

Qualifications

  • You will hold a Bachelor's or Master's in a relevant field
  • You will have experience in people leadership, coaching, and team development
  • You will have strong technical knowledge, preferably in a data center background, but challenge us on that
  • You will have familiarity and passion for continuous improvement and change management, having an awareness of change methodologies such as Lean
  • You have excellent stakeholder management skills, both internal and external - everyone counts
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills, you will have a structured yet flexible approach
  • We want you to thrive on logic and organization but also show creativity and motivate others
