Lead Data Center HVAC Mechanic
Job Summary
We are looking for a Lead Data Center HVAC Mechanic to support our team at our Chicago Data Center. In this role you will lead a team in the performance highly skilled mechanical maintenance repairs, corrective maintenance, and complex installations of HVAC and Mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead a team of Critical Facilities HVAC/Mechanical mechanics in the installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
- Plan and prioritize work assignments for the team, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely completion of projects
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, assisting with troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed
- Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure work is performed to industry standards and specifications
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to coordinate Mechanical projects and ensure smooth operations
- Train and mentor junior mechanics, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing within the team
- Directs vendors on highly skilled tasks to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out per standards and requirements
- Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve
- Makes recommendations for new procedures to management team
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and implement necessary changes to improve efficiency and compliance
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including equipment maintenance schedules, repair logs, and inventory management
- Foster a safe working environment, enforcing safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety awareness among team members
Qualifications
- 6+ years of HVAC/Mechanical Maintenance experience
- Demonstrated mentorship and leadership experience
- High School Diploma
- Experience working in critical infrastructure environments
- You can lift up to 50 lbs. and are agile in manual dexterity (climb, stoop, et.) with or without an accommodation
- 24/7 Operation - flexibility to work any assigned shift, off-schedule, fill in for workmates, respond to emergencies, etc
