EHS Compliance Advisor
Job Summary
To assist in maintaining compliance with current occupational health and safety legislation throughout Equinix Datacenter and undertakings.
Provide comprehensive support to the health and safety manager by developing, implementing and monitoring health and safety systems across the organisation.
Responsibilities
Standards & Regulatory Requirements
- Recommends the standards that will be planned and plans regulatory schedule within prescribed timeframe
- Provide support to cross functional teams by contributing to industry knowledge at various Equinix UK forums and sharing information with the business Management Systems
- Carry out accident investigations and advise of controls to prevent reoccurrence
- Analyse corrective and preventative actions to identify systemic issues/root causes and recommend broader preventive actions
- Maintain ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001 Management Systems for the UK operations
- Responsible for working with the Projects and Installations teams on notifiable and non-notifiable CDM projects
- First point of contact for all Customer Audit Requests and liaison with Datacenter operations to complete
Reporting
- Advises stakeholders on the development of content and types of reports to be generated
- Manages corrective action trackers, accident & incident reporting
Training
- Develops and implements training plans for standards, regulatory and reporting requirements (i.e., health, safety and environmental compliance, UK)
- Co-ordinates facilitates and conducts training inclusive of tool box talks across cross functional teams and contractors where required
- Works with UK management to assess need for new training or re-training efforts
Datacenter & Cross-Functional Support
- Leads on responses for complex requests or sensitive issues with high risk
- Provides authoritative expertise in Health and Safety
- Provides administrative support as required to EHS Manager
- Provide support to cross functional teams by engaging and completing risk assessments/method statements for operations at all UK wide Datacenters in conjunction to work activities
- Leads Datacenter and cross-functional teams on assigned projects balancing business need/knowledge with standards requirements
- Identifies potential risks for non-compliance and leads mitigation/response efforts with external and internal groups
- Ensures work equipment on all sites are inspected, maintained and registers indicating their status updated
- Conducts workplace inspections across UK sites and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve non-compliance issues
- Ensures UK sites and offices have emergency fire evacuations
- Provides cross functional support by undertaking workplace adjustment and capability assessments for employees
- Completes work station assessments and reports in accordance with DSE regulations
- Provides support to cross functional teams and all interested parties for health and safety information and responding to queries in a timely manner
- Take responsibility of own health and safety as required under the Health and Safety at Work Act etc. 1974
- Performs any other reasonable task that may be required on a regular basis, either autonomously or as part of a team
- Monitors and maintain adherence to waste requirements across all Equinix UK sites
Qualifications
- Experience in operational occupational Health and Safety and carrying out risk assessments
- Good working knowledge of MS office systems
- Experience in a health and safety advisory role
- Skilled communicator and presenter, able to liaise with internal colleagues across number of cross functional departments and ensure that EHS requirements are understood
- Able to work with external companies/customer end users and enforcement companies
- Excellent diplomacy and influencing skills, with a proven track record of raising the profile H&S at all levels, both internally and externally
- Required to travel and report across all UK Equinix sites as per business needs
