Director, Solution Marketing, Data Center & Networking Solutions

The Equinix Solution Marketing team is looking for a Director of Solution Marketing to architect and execute on all data center and networking solutions for our go-to-market engine (i.e., global marketing campaigns and sales plays) in close collaboration with Product Marketing, Technical Marketing, Digital Marketing, Sales Play Activation Team, Partner Marketing and key solution alliance partners.

The right person for this role will be experienced, with an informed opinion on global data strategies, sustainability topics and data center and networking capabilities that enable and scale AI workloads. We seek a customer obsessed leader who understands our target audience needs and will act as their champion. As we work to address complex customer challenges and subsequently redesign infrastructure for the era of AI, this role will be fundamental to customer understanding, outreach and relevant presentation of Equinix solutions. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Solution Marketing. The leader in this role will be key in implementing the vision of our new CEO, Adaire Fox-Martin, and other executives who have recently joined Equinix from industry-leading technology providers to take our Fortune 500 company further than ever before.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a thought leader, the ideal candidate will represent Equinix at industry events and conferences, contributing to discussions around data center and networking market conditions and our solutions that shape the future of technology and digital infrastructure. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, and executional excellence, making it ideal for a passionate marketing professional ready to make a significant impact in a fast-paced environment.


  • The ideal candidate will also lead a small, geographically distributed, high performing team to accomplish the following:


  • Architect Equinix's data center and networking solutions and use case strategies, based on an understanding of target markets, buyers, the industry landscape, and key issues


  • Analyze potential market segments to determine which have a higher propensity to buy and whether the organization has the capability to deliver


  • Identify the key buyers for the solutions and use cases, develop buyer personas, and solidify understanding of buyer persona needs


  • Map products, services, and offerings from Equinix and from external partners to market and buyer needs to create solutions and their use cases


  • Conduct competitive analysis to understand where solutions may already exist and how to differentiate new solutions


  • Identify the buying group for the solutions and their use cases and map the buying journey process for the key buyers in the group


  • Build positioning and messaging for the solution and its use cases and create a content strategy based on buyer behavior and preferences (e.g., white papers, brochures, social media, Web pages, online and in-person events)


  • Work closely with Partner Marketing, Product Marketing and Technical Marketing to develop content for the content strategy.


  • Support the Sales Play Activation team in developing competitive comparison guides for use in positioning against like offerings from other organizations


  • Work with Partner and Channel Marketing to determine the best routes to market for the solution: internal or field sales, channel, or solutions partners, and/or ecommerce


  • Work with Demand Generation team to create the solution campaign strategy brief and support efforts across communications and demand generation


  • Assist in the creation of enablement content for direct and indirect sales resources


  • Oversee the launch of the solution to the marketplace as necessary


  • Participate in frequent interlocks with the following organizations:


  • Digital Marketing
  • Product Marketing
  • Technical Marketing
  • Partner Marketing
  • Channel Marketing

QUALIFICATIONS:

This is a senior role that requires a leader with relevant experience for success. The ideal candidate will have experience with other colocation and networking providers, or from our alliance partners such as Cisco, Dell Technologies, HPE, NVIDIA, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Oracle Cloud, having demonstrated success in delivering content that engages both prospective and returning buyers throughout their entire buying journey. Experience with Gartner's Buyer Enablement Framework will receive prioritized attention.

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in marketing, computer science, or related field, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of product marketing, product management, and/or sales experience within the data center solutions space.


  • Experience managing a diverse, distributed team that creates buyer and seller assets, e.g., joint white papers, solution briefs, web pages, video demonstrations, customer facing presentations, event content.


  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and driving initiatives in a cross-functional environment.


  • Excellent written and verbal communications including content creation through various mediums.


  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • A team player with the ability to cultivate a highly performing team and strong working relationships. The ideal candidate can effectively communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, customer success, product, and other departments.

  • Growth mindset and intellectual curiosity. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn, flex into new areas, and continuously improve.
