Data Center Security Engineer
Job Summary
We are searching a dedicated Dutch speaking Security Engineer to manage the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of our data center physical security systems. This role involves overseeing access control, video recording and monitoring equipment, and key management systems in a mission-critical environment.
You will support vendors, develop and train stakeholders in security procedures and policies, and provide onsite support for all security needs. The role also encompasses local physical security incident management, customer security reporting, audit support, routine communications, and vendor support.
Responsibilities
Data center on-site security support
- Perform site inspections and respond to critical building access control and video management alarms/faults
- Act as the point of contact/escalation for onsite security guarding staff
- Provide technical review of security-related customer orders
- Manage emergency situations on critical security systems
Security Processes and Systems
- Identify and report opportunities for improvement in physical security processes and systems
- Ensure data center security handbooks are up-to-date
- Analyze and resolve recurring alarms
- Configure the Access Control System and coordinate the Equinix standard with the NL organization
- Liaise with Security Center of Excellence and drive improvement initiatives relating to security operations and security systems
Project Management:
- Support physical security aspects in projects, such as perimeter security during build-outs
- Contribute to and potentially lead security infrastructure projects
- Support the maintenance of security related drawings
Support to data center management team
- Provide day-to-day support to Data Center Operations on topics relating to physical security
- Evaluate and optimize security patrol rounds
- Review and improve access levels in access control system
- Periodically review CCTV settings
- Support local security in responding to and resolving issues and/or condition reports for the access control and video management systems
- Participate in customer-facing support requests, including negotiated audits, security custom orders, and cage build initiation
Incident Management
- Respond to and resolve security incidents, breaches, and events using appropriate procedures
- Assist with reporting and performing root cause analysis relating to security incidents
- Understand the security incident decision matrix and properly report security incident declarations with the Equinix Operations Center (EOC); work with stakeholders for potential Internal Incident Report (IIR)/Post Incident Report (PIR) response
Compliance and Audit Support
- Support topics relating to physical security during internal and external audits
- Coordinate with the site management team to support fulfilling internal and external audit requirements relating to physical security
Data Management
- Track key performance indicators for information security and physical security
- Report on security patrol rounds (completion rate, findings, etc.)
- Collect security data and report on the performance of information security and physical security
- Perform physical access reviews and coordinate follow-up actions
Training
- Monitor the completion rate of information security and physical security training and take appropriate actions when needed
Vendor Management
- Support vendors in preventative and corrective maintenance on-site security infrastructure, including security/OS patching and updates
- Coordinate and advise on End of Life components
- Liaise with vendors responsible for security hardware
- Liaise with Security Service providers (Security Guards)
- Establish operational meetings with the Security Service Provider to ensure proper follow-up on incidents, events, and vendor performance indicators
Qualifications
- You have written & spoken communication in Dutch and English
- Proven experience in security engineering or a related field
- Strong understanding of physical security systems and processes
- Excellent problem-solving and incident management skills
- Ability to work effectively with vendors and stakeholders
- Strong communication and training skills
- Experience with compliance and audit support
