Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer IV

Job Summary
SY9 based at Rosehill is the first Hyper Scale data center within the Equinix Australian portfolio and we are looking to add a Critical Facilities Engineer to the growing team. Applicants with an engineering mindset and capabilities from various backgrounds will be considered, with industry experience or a mechanical/HVAC background highly regarded.
With a clearly defined and direct career progression path, a willingness to learn and, attain and maintain key information will be highly regarded. Our engineers work across all disciplines (electrical/mechanical/controls) so the role would suit those that enjoy a varied work scope in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance
- Shadows senior engineers in preventative and corrective maintenance checks on-site to facility components
- Assists with difficult repairs, maintenance, installations and on-site inspections to facility systems. Supports energy efficiency measures
- Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves basic alarm issues that require judgement in resolving while following standard operating procedures. (SOP's)
- Operates and maintains plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems and other critical infrastructures under the supervision of more senior technical staff
- Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments
Vendor Support
- Supports the work approval process for service providers on moderately difficult maintenance work, for tracking: briefing at the start of work, work during the day workday/shift and final review of the work carried out. Ensures vendor maintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix's SOPs
- In cooperation with vendors, supports modifications to technical files for plants and equipment ensuring files and builds are up-to-date
Site Administration & Incident Support
- Performs moderately difficult site logs for permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts
Work Orders & Additional Projects
- Completes routine work requests and circuit installations
- Makes minor changes to mechanical, electrical and specialized systems, as directed, and builds out knowledge over time
Qualifications and Experience
- Engineering mindset and technical aptitude to attain and maintain key information
- Mechanical Trade/Degree qualified or (but not mandatory) relevant data center experience
- Ability to attain and maintain NV1 Clearance, so due to our ustomer requirements citizenship will be required
- Willingness to learn the Equinix way and be a positive add to our culture
- Commitment to 24/7 roster (12 hour shifts, 4 on 4 off)
- Positive outlook towards learning a new industry and ability to work well with customers, vendors and senior colleagues
