Job Summary

Equinix is on a transformational journey to meet our future needs as a growing and evolving platform company. Reporting to the Legal Director, Global Legal Solutions (GLS), the Contract Manager will enable the delivery of scalable, efficient, and innovative solutions that support our rapid growth and transformation as a leading technology company. As a key member of the GLS team, you will play a critical role in driving excellence in the contracting process, supporting Equinix's ability to scale operations globally while delivering value to internal and external stakeholders.

The Contract Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end deal lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing contracts. As GLS expands to create a unified, data-driven legal operations ecosystem, this role will focus on optimizing contract workflows, mentoring junior professionals, and managing escalations for complex transactions. The successful candidate will help foster collaboration across legal, business, and functional teams to ensure contracts align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and Equinix's commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Lead the full lifecycle of contracts, including drafting, reviewing, redlining, and negotiating agreements (e.g., NDAs, MSAs, software licensing, professional services, cloud services, channel partner and licensing agreements)
  • Meet business SLAs by ensuring timely execution of contracts by proactively managing priorities and milestones
  • Handle escalations from internal stakeholders, providing strategic and practical advice to resolve complex contractual issues
  • Conduct contract research and interpretation, provide legal guidance on day-to-day issues, including transactional and non-transactional matters

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with legal, business, and cross-functional teams to address deal-specific needs and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Act as the primary point of contact for contract-related inquiries and escalations, providing clear and actionable solutions
  • May be required to provide training to the business

Team Development and Mentorship

  • Train, mentor, and support junior legal professionals to develop their skills in contract management and negotiation
  • Promote knowledge sharing and ensure the team follows best practices in contract administration

Technology and Automation

  • Leverage Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems, e-signature platforms, and other legal technology tools to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency
  • Drive adoption of automation capabilities to reduce manual processes, enhance accuracy, and accelerate contract turnaround times
  • Partner with data and analytics teams to track contract metrics, identify trends, and generate actionable insights to improve contracting practices

Process and Efficiency Improvement

  • Support the success of contract assets in general, by adopting and enforcing policies, templates, playbooks, and standard operating procedures to drive consistency and scalability
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices to optimize contract management operations

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure contracts align with legal, compliance, and organizational standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks in contracts, escalating issues to leadership as needed

Metrics and Reporting

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to contract management processes
  • Provide leadership with regular updates on the effectiveness of the contracting function and key trends

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience managing contracts in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, ideally within a Fortune 500 in the technology space
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract drafting, review, and negotiation across diverse contract types
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring or training junior team members
  • Proven experience using Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems, e-signature platforms, and automation capabilities to streamline contract workflows and increase efficiency. Experience in Agiloft CLM is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives in diverse cultural and regulatory landscapes

Skills

  • Strong understanding of contract law, compliance, and best practices in contract negotiation
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts for non-legal stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making

Technical Proficiency

  • Hands-on experience with CLM systems and legal technology tools, with a track record of supporting implementation of tech capabilities
  • Familiarity with data analytics and metrics-based performance tracking to inform decision-making. Experience using Tableau is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in business, law, or a related field
  • Certification in contract management (e.g., IACCM/World Commerce & Contracting)
  • Certification in project management (PMP) is a plus

Languages

  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in additional languages, such as Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese, is strongly preferred and a significant advantage given the global nature of the role
