JOB SUMMARY

The VB Consultant is part of EPIC’s Ancillary Lines and Voluntary Benefits practice and has primary responsibilities to help clients evaluate and execute worksite benefit opportunities assisting clients in the management of benefit plan costs and risk while building a comprehensive suite of benefits to attract and retain employees. This role supports EPIC’s consulting teams in their region in the development of new business, short and long-term VB strategies and will also be responsible for RFP management, vendor evaluations, special projects, and implementation of products and services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop new VB opportunities through networking, prospecting and cross-selling with EB teams
  • Conduct annual book reviews with practice leads and producers/lead consultants in your assigned territory to identify opportunities to expand VB offerings and review current product offerings for competitiveness and participation.
  • Support client engagements through strategy, the selection of products, carriers and implementation of worksite voluntary insurance programs
  • Stay abreast of and communicate industry trends, benchmarks, emerging products and innovative vendors to clients and the EPIC team.
  • Project management for the procurement and implementation of VB strategy and products including but not limited to preparation, management, analysis, and subsequent presentation of Request for Proposals
  • Review of vendor agreements and policy documents to ensure final documents reflect benefit design and client intent
  • Assist in the development of collateral and training on relevant topics for internal colleagues as well as client facing materials
  • Assist in the building and maintenance of templates for RFPs, benchmarking reports, development and maintenance of a vendor database to support EPICs account teams in the selection of products/vendors

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years' experience and success supporting the sale of worksite voluntary programs gained in a carrier, consulting, and/or brokerage environment
  • Track record of success in supporting client relationships
  • Proven experience in successfully leading projects and providing high touch client service
  • Superior ability to collaborate with clients, vendors, internal colleagues, and work across all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work independently and on a team within a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of HR, benefits and payroll technology used to enroll and maintain employee benefit elections
  • Detail oriented, organized, efficient, and proactive
  • Superior written/verbal communication skills – ability to communicate technical concepts using everyday language
  • Current Life and Health license in residence state
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational training/business experience
  • Flexible to work outside of normal working hours in support of clients nationwide
  • Travel (as needed) with potential for overnight stays

 

The national average salary for this role is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
