JOB OVERVIEW:
The ACEC Business Insurance Trust (BIT) Producer (part of our Greyling Insurance division of EPIC) is responsible for prospecting, soliciting, quoting, and selling new and renewal accounts to qualifying firms who are members of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). The Business Insurance Trust (BIT) affinity program is an exclusive insurance program available to ACEC members who qualify. This role will travel to ACEC events (at the state and national level) to network and build relationships with ACEC members and the BIT Trustees, sell BIT program services, and renew accounts to firms currently in the BIT program. Service and sales standards must be met with emphasis placed on the quality of the insurance product presented to the client.
LOCATION: Remote role with 30-40% travel; candidates ideally will be located in one of the following areas: Western United States, Northeastern United States, or Texas
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- REQUIRED: Current commercial insurance industry experience managing accounts and/or broking/marketing with carriers. Insurance sales experience preferred but not required.
- Candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills, who can successfully build relationships with ACEC members via cold-calling, emailing, meeting in-person, and networking at state and national trade conferences.
- A self-starter with excellent time management skills who can push to seek out new business, but also stay organized and on top of tasks (such as getting quotes, new and renewal business, etc.)
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
- Primary expert resource and point of contact for ACEC members, which includes research/analysis and handling of wide variety of client questions on BIT Program parameters, deductible-assistance and other Program benefits, coverage/eligibility, contractual issues, and government reporting compliance. Prepares and provides resources, trend and legal update information to clients on an on-going basis.
- New business development – stays up to date on current ACEC member list, cold-calls new members, networks with existing members, develops relationships, attends events, represents Greyling, EPIC, and the BIT at exhibit booths, tables, and other marketing outreach, participates in live and virtual sales-and-marketing presentations, prepares & presents proposals to win new clients.
- Occasional meetings with and presentations to the BIT Trustees
- Work closely with the BIT’s endorsed insurance provider(s)
- Creates and maintains prospect and suspect lists.
- For new and renewal business, analyzes relevant client data (e.g., experience data, contractual requirements for insurance), conducts market comparisons by analyzing insurance rate and renewal information and obtaining quotes, strategizes with clients, makes recommendations to clients regarding coverage and exclusions; negotiates premium and commission rates on behalf of clients for best alternatives.
- Analyzes financial data and model program alternatives, and advises client of alternatives and the recommended strategy.
- Manages the marketing process, negotiates with carriers and vendors on client’s behalf to provide cost effective solutions for the client.
- Assists in the development of the sales objectives.
- Meets the forecasted premium volume and commission growth goals as established.
- Pre-qualifies insurance prospects for insurability and quality of risk.
- Identifies the client’s insurance needs, gaps in coverage, and loss exposures (insurable and uninsurable).
- Obtains accurate information from the prospects, including completing applications, supplemental questionnaires, risk surveys, and other related documentation in order to provide complete, comprehensive submissions.
- Meets agency standards for account receivables.
- Participates in extensive networking and relationship-building with ACEC members and BIT Trustees by regularly attending events (at both the national, state and local levels), and traveling to meet with clients in person.
- Reviews client’s insurance programs annually and makes recommendations.
- Accurately documents client files and electronic files as to coverage discussions, quotes, declination, and coverage change or declined.
- Maintain a concern for timeliness and completeness when interacting with clients, agency, and company personnel to minimize potentials for error or omission claims.
- Maintain up-to-date proposals, workflow logs, manuals or other required documentation and records.
- Stay informed regarding industry information, new product/program developments, claims, risk, and insurance trends, coverages, legislation, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
- Project a professional image at all times in conduct, action, and appearance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interact and lead Account Executive, Account Manager, Assistant Account Manager and/or Administrative Assistant position(s), as appropriate.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

- Demonstrated experience with agency management systems, rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned clients and prospects.

- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires teamwork, demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- College degree preferred. High school diploma with some college or significant Insurance Industry related experience; or combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience working for an insurance brokerage marketing & placing coverage.
- Experience working with group captives/risk retention groups is highly preferred.
- Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of Microsoft Office computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license required with proof of insurance.
- Current Property & Casualty Insurance License
COMPENSATION:
The national average salary for this role is $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any commissions, bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
