Responsibilities
  • Assist users in developing workflows and code tailored to HPC environments, ensuring compliance with scheduler policies and software practices
  • Review user code to identify areas for optimization, improving runtime and reducing resource requirements for cluster-based submissions
  • Provide solutions for flagged jobs in collaboration with users, offering technical guidance to resolve issues
  • Document common workflows, pitfalls, and best practices to improve cluster utilization in partnership with data and computational science teams
  • Educate users on genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics workflows commonly encountered in biotech/pharma R&D environments
  • Enable effective use of HPC systems by providing expertise in Linux, Python, and R, catering to the computational science needs of users
  • Act as a technical liaison for integrating emerging technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Cuda programming into workflows
  • Offer insights and guidance for increasing user competency in cloud platforms like AWS
  • Collaborate closely with globally distributed teams, ensuring seamless communication and efficient technical solutions
  • Stay proactive in identifying potential areas for improvement in user workflows and HPC system utilization
Requirements
  • Background in developing workflows and code for HPC systems with a minimum of 7 years of experience
  • Expert understanding of Linux operating systems combined with proficiency in Python and R
  • Experience with Cuda programming, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, showcasing competency in accelerating workflows involving deep learning or HPC resources
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud computing services and the flexibility to integrate cloud-based solutions into HPC processes
  • Understanding of drug development workflows related to genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics, preferably within biotech or pharma domains
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to users of varying expertise levels
  • Capability to work collaboratively, fostering productivity across distributed teams and users globally
Nice to have
  • Background in supporting computational biology teams in biotech or pharma industries
  • Showcase of contributions to open-source HPC or DevOps tools utilized within scientific research
  • Familiarity with advanced data visualization tools and frameworks for scientific computing
  • Qualifications in cloud-native HPC solutions or containerization technologies specific to DevOps environments
