Our client is one of the world's biggest hedge funds, managing investments for a wide array of institutional clients, from charitable foundations to foreign governments and central banks. We are looking for a Solution Architect for the Lang team. The team is developing a DSL based on Scala. Users of the technology in the Department are extremely sophisticated investors who are also technically savvy and work in a deep partnership model with the engineers. Our goal is to build highly functional, beautiful, and intuitive technologies for these processes, which ultimately drive, scale, and enable our investment processes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead designs of major software components, systems, and features (including patterns, NFRs)
  • Collaborate in design discussions to provide business users with technical solutions and translate requirements into a detailed architectural blueprint
  • Define and evolve the team's core set of best practices, anticipate potential issues, and design for flexibility and resilience
  • Work closely with the business to understand key challenges and pain points, devising solutions to meet them. Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Create component- and object-level designs, as well as production, troubleshooting, and documentation of high-quality code
  • Ensure quality through defining and enforcing coding standards, guidelines, and best practices, focusing on robust, maintainable, and scalable systems
Requirements
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience in technically rigorous environments holding extremely high bars for their engineers
  • Strong computer science fundamentals with a mastery of backend platform-level development
  • Mathematics knowledge and understanding
  • Experience with complex backend systems and a fluency with contemporary programming languages, patterns, and architectures
  • Experience in Scala development
  • Scala compiler plugin experience and syntax development
  • Excellent design skills (with the security focus, OOD, SOLID, GRASP, KISS, YAGNI, DRY, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, SDLC, Agile, and Design patterns
  • Strong algorithmic and debugging skills
  • Ability to dive into a complicated codebase without supervision
  • Strong soft skills such as stress tolerance, open-mindedness, proactiveness, preciseness and meticulousness
  • Ability to inspire and guide teams while fostering collaboration
  • Excellent communication skills (English - B2+/C1) to be able to effectively explain technical ideas to diverse audiences
