Software Engineer/Murex Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer/Murex Specialist to enhance and maintain our Murex platform, which boasts a strategic role within the APAC region's financial operations.
The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to system improvements, robust problem-solving skills, and a strong background in software development and Murex applications. This position requires at least a graduate degree in a STEM-related field, preferably with a numerical and software engineering background.

Responsibilities

  • Build, develop, design and implement Murex installations around the APAC region. Aiding in the development of Australian graduates and employees to become experienced using Murex application and the infrastructure. On-site training to clients using the Murex software system, in-house training seminars on Murex. Acting as a core reference and information source, providing guidance and assistance in the system decision making for the APAC region. Part of a global team responsible for application and developer support of the Murex installation in the APAC region.Key member of the team in the APAC region supporting core local business hours. Giving on-going real time support to Murex application users in the APAC region.
  • Identify, gatherand document user IT requirements
  • Presentation skills and on the fly problem solving qualities to meet customer needs
  • Provide advice, guidance, expertise and assistance in the system project decision making process and in the development of system proposals and strategies
  • Identify and evaluate inefficiencies, deficiencies and limitations in existing systems and associated processes, procedures and methods, and recommend optimal business practices, and system functionality and behaviour
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Identify problems through comparison of former systems to help resolve problems for the end users.Test, debug, diagnose and correct problems to ensure acceptable quality and integrity of the system, and that programs and applications perform to specification
  • Coordinate between various infrastructure teams such as server team, network team, database team, and development teams on installation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
  • Take responsibility for deploy functional solutions, such as creating, adopting and implementing system test plans, which ensure acceptable quality and integrity of the system.Use data and analytics techniques to create system requirements and functionality deficiencies for the improvement of the application performance
  • Monthly stability figures which will determine the prioritisation of the monthly release packages to enhance performance and eliminating bugs
  • Coordinate and communicate with business users to gather, document, and verify requirements / improvements. On-site client consultancy identifying and evaluating inefficiencies in client Murex application and recommending optimal business practices, and system functionality and behaviour.Communicate with a wide variety of users from front end business, users, to middle office and operations and systems specialists across multiple technology platforms
  • Identify, investigate, and analyse business processes, procedures and work practices.Use project management methodologies, principles and techniques to develop project plans and to cost, resource and manage projects

  • At least a graduate degree level in a STEM course
  • A combination of a numerical background and a software engineering background is particularly advantageous
  • 2 years working in a high-performance computing environment in the capital markets or investment banking industry to include an appreciation of a range of asset classes
  • Minimum 2+ years of Murex experience
  • Experience with SQL and UNIX, R / python / Perl / bash
  • Sound Administration, Analytical, reporting and Leadership & training skills
  • Quick to grasp new ideas and conceptswith ability to work to tight deadlines and under immense pressure at times
  • Accustomed to flexible working practices
  • Project, time & client - management skillswith excellent communication skills and time Management Skills
  • Skills in designing, developing, testing, and implementing softwarewith a strong technical aptitude / expertise
  • Effective Negotiation skills
  • Lateral thinking - ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to problems and to conceptualise and think creatively
  • Logical Approach to problem solving and an investigative and inquisitive
  • Fluent in English - written & spoken. Excellent oral and written communication skills
