We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Systems Engineer to provide leadership and expertise in managing our data center operations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
This role involves hands-on technical work, support across various technologies, and effective vendor management. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in Windows server operations, virtualization, and cloud-based technologies to maintain and optimize our critical systems.
This position offers remote setup with the flexibility to work from any location in Georgia, whether it's your home, well-equipped offices in Tbilisi and Batumi or a coworking space in Kutaisi.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the global data center environment, focusing on Windows server technologies, VMware, VEEAM, and general server/datacenter maintenance
  • Offer immediate 3rd level server support for escalated issues from the Datacenter Operations Team, Service Desk, App/Dev, or business users
  • Implement patching and proactive maintenance plans, and develop best practice maintenance strategies
  • Review monitoring systems, act on alerts, and revise thresholds/alerts to ensure infrastructure stability
  • Perform root cause analysis using best practice troubleshooting techniques and thoroughly document findings and solutions
  • Support, maintain, create and update associated build and standard operating procedure documentation
  • Identify, document, publish and uphold systems policies, standards and procedures
  • Lead projects and tasks to assess, optimize, and proactively manage enterprise and client systems and infrastructure
  • Manage all support requests, projects, and tasks ensuring they are addressed proficiently and in a timely manner
  • Be available for evening and weekend work as necessary to support maintenance and project activities
  • Oversee planning and execution of infrastructure projects as a technical resource
  • Provide expert support and use AWS CLI and Gcloud Command shells for scripting
  • Offer third-tier support for VMware vSphere 6.x issues and other escalated concerns

  • Minimum 5 years of equivalent work experience and infrastructure support experience
  • Strong experience with Windows Server operations, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2016 or later, and Office 365
  • Proficiency with networking, including LAN and WAN, DNS, and DHCP
  • Background in storage solutions from NetApp and HP Nimble
  • Expertise in PowerShell scripting and C# for creating automation tasks to enhance team reliability and efficiency
  • Understanding of cloud environments including Azure, AWS, and GCP
  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere 6.x, VCP-DCV certification preferred
  • Familiarity with backup tools such as Veeam Backup and Replication, Cloud Endure, and Cloudranger
  • Experience in the Insurance/Reinsurance Industry, with understanding of the related terminology and processes
  • Customer-focused attitude with attention to detail and willingness to continuously learn and expand knowledge
