We are seeking a seasoned Senior Support Engineer with Kafka expertise to join our dynamic, multicultural team that spans across continents including Australia, Canada, the USA, Latin America, Europe, Ukraine, and India.
In this role, you will be pivotal in providing L1 on-call support, maintaining, improving, and developing a robust Kafka platform that hosts 20+ Kafka clusters utilizing the Confluent Platform (Enterprise Edition). You will collaborate routinely with Kafka developers and teams, automating and managing platform resources to optimize performance and enhance functionalities.

Responsibilities
- Set up new Kafka clusters and ancillary components (Kubernetes, HELM, Python)
- Conduct regular monitoring to ensure optimal health and performance of the Kafka platform and its data pipelines
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, ensuring smooth operation and minimizing downtime
- Optimize Kafka platform components and perform regular performance enhancements
- Assess and enhance the cost efficiency and capabilities of Kafka clusters
- Oversee Kafka platform upgrades to stay up-to-date with technology advancements
- Implement and manage robust security measures for the Kafka platform
- Predict and manage the scaling needs of the Kafka platform to support future growth
- Craft and maintain comprehensive documentation and share insights with team members
- Collaborate with Confluent Support teams for complex issue resolution
- Sustain and improve existing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management automations for efficient Kafka platform management
- Optimize onboarding automation scripts and support Kafka-driven self-service automations

- 3+ years of experience in deploying and managing Confluent Platform with proficiency in Kubernetes, HELM, and CFK
- Relevant Kafka certifications such as Confluent Certified Developer or Administrator
- Competency in Kubernetes, HELM, Groovy, Python
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with GCP and Linux systems
- Skills in Python/Shell scripting, automation, and Jenkins pipelines
