EPAM is looking for a technically hands-on Senior Solution Architect with strong Card Payments experience to initially be aligned to a large banking client of ours.

EPAM is collaborating with the bank to enhance and modernize its Cards Payments Infrastructure, focusing on ATM networks and card payment systems. We are seeking a seasoned Solution Architect with strong experience in cards payments infrastructure to lead the architectural design and integration efforts for this critical initiative. Ideally you will bring a deep understanding of payment systems, ATM technology and the ability to design scalable, secure and efficient solutions.

This is a great opportunity to work with EPAM's senior Tech Leaders, our Global Architects/Engineers and those from our client accounts supporting them navigate in a rapid developing technology landscape. Our Solution Architects must have the ability to engage in opening discussions, identify technology needs, recommend the right technology choices and communicate/deliver solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Architectural Leadership and Design:
    • Lead the architectural design and planning for the modernisation of the Bank's UK Cards Payments Infrastructure, with a focus on ATM and card payment systems
    • Define and document architectural standards, patterns and frameworks to be used throughout the project and ensure architectural designs meet functional/non-functional requirements, including scalability, performance, security and compliance
  • Technical Guidance and Integration:
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring best practices in software development and integration are followed
    • Oversee the integration of card payment systems with other banking platforms and third-party services, ensuring seamless interoperability and data consistency
    • Collaborate with IT security teams to design and implement robust security measures for card payment and ATM systems
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners and project managers to understand business goals and translate them into technical solutions
    • Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, effectively communicating architectural decisions and their impact on the business
    • Participate in vendor selection and management, ensuring third-party solutions align with the project's architectural vision and standards
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends related to cards payments and ATM infrastructure
    • Evaluate and recommend new technologies or approaches that can enhance the efficiency, security and customer experience of the Bank's UK card payment systems
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or similar or relevant work experience
  • Extensive experience acting as hands-on Solution Architect with specific expertise in cards payments infrastructure, including ATM technology
  • Strong background in designing and implementing large-scale, complex IT systems within the banking or financial services sector
  • Proficient in architectural frameworks, design patterns and modern software development practices
  • Deep understanding of security principles and compliance requirements relevant to card payments and financial transactions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders
Nice to have
  • Experience with cloud architectures and services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Certifications in architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) or cloud technologies
