Responsibilities

• Deploy and maintain Kafka clusters and associated components
• Regularly monitor the health and performance of the Kafka platform and data pipelines
• Identify and fix issues related to the platform, including data pipelines, network problems, cloud or containerization resources failures, or software bugs
• Perform regular performance tuning of Kafka platform components
• Monitor and optimize the cost and performance of Kafka clusters
• Plan and execute platform upgrades, including testing and implementation
• Enhance platform security with access controls, encryption, and periodic reviews
• Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures
• Anticipate capacity needs by monitoring usage trends and planning for future growth
• Document procedures, configurations, and issue resolutions, and share knowledge with the team

• 3+ years of professional experience in Kafka implementation and maintenance, especially with Confluent Platform
• Experience in automating processes and maintaining scripts
• Understanding of networking, and capability to to collaborate across teams like Networking and CICD
• Expertise in Kafka Confluent Stack, HELM, Terraform, Kubernetes/Containers, Docker, and scripting (Python/Shell)
• Working knowledge of GCP and AWS cloud platforms, Jenkins, Linux administration, PagerDuty and Uptrends
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and address complex technical challenges
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (B2+ proficiency)

• Certifications, such as Confluent Certified Developer or Administrator for Apache Kafka, are a plus
