Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain Kafka clusters and associated components
- Regularly monitor the health and performance of the Kafka platform and data pipelines
- Identify and fix issues related to the platform, including data pipelines, network problems, cloud or containerization resources failures, or software bugs
- Perform regular performance tuning of Kafka platform components
- Monitor and optimize the cost and performance of Kafka clusters
- Plan and execute platform upgrades, including testing and implementation
- Enhance platform security with access controls, encryption, and periodic reviews
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures
- Anticipate capacity needs by monitoring usage trends and planning for future growth
- Document procedures, configurations, and issue resolutions, and share knowledge with the team

- 3+ years of professional experience in Kafka implementation and maintenance, especially with Confluent Platform
- Experience in automating processes and maintaining scripts
- Understanding of networking, and capability to to collaborate across teams like Networking and CICD
- Expertise in Kafka Confluent Stack, HELM, Terraform, Kubernetes/Containers, Docker, and scripting (Python/Shell)
- Working knowledge of GCP and AWS cloud platforms, Jenkins, Linux administration, PagerDuty and Uptrends
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and address complex technical challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (B2+ proficiency)
- Certifications, such as Confluent Certified Developer or Administrator for Apache Kafka, are a plus
