Our client is one of the world's biggest hedge funds, managing investments for a wide array of institutional clients, from charitable foundations to foreign governments and central banks. We are looking for a Senior Language Engineer for the Lang team. The team is developing DSL based on Scala. Users of the technology in the Department are extremely sophisticated investors who are also technically savvy and work in a deep partnership model with the engineers. Our goal is to build highly functional, beautiful, and intuitive technologies for these processes which ultimately drive, scale, and enable our investment processes.

Responsibilities
- Understand deeply the syntax of languages and build our client's own financial language to manipulate incoming data and express top-secret investment logic
- Design, implement, and optimize parsers, compilers, and other language-related components
- Maintain and enhance language syntax and semantics to meet evolving business needs
- Contribute to the programming language community and open source projects (Schema, Haskell, Lisp, Racket)
- Work on a small team (
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in technically rigorous environments holding extremely high bars for their engineers
- Programming experience with Scala or functional programming
- Background building programming languages and understanding the syntax of languages
- Deep expertise with parsers and compilers
- Strong computer science fundamentals with experience working across the entire software stack
- Experience with extremely complex systems and fluency with contemporary programming languages, patterns, and architectures
- A keen ability to interact with users to understand their needs, use cases, and pain points
