We are looking for a Lead Data DevOps Engineer with expertise in Azure Synapse to join our team. You will be responsible for building, automating, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring seamless data integration, and implementing best practices in DataOps to enhance data reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
This position offers remote setup with the flexibility to work from any location in Georgia, whether it's your home, well-equipped offices in Tbilisi and Batumi or a coworking space in Kutaisi.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics and other Azure data services
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for data workflows using Azure DevOps, Git, and Terraform/Bicep
- Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage for performance and cost efficiency
- Manage ETL/ELT workflows, ensuring data quality and consistency across different environments
- Automate data deployment, monitoring, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and DevOps teams to enhance the overall DataOps strategy
- Ensure security best practices, including access control, encryption, and compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks in Azure Synapse, Spark Pools, and Data Flows
- Oversee release planning, scheduling, and coordination of data-related deployments
- Implement and manage version control, branching strategies, and rollback procedures
- Ensure smooth code releases across development, testing, and production environments
- Define and enforce release governance, approvals, and compliance standards

- 3+ years of experience in DataOps, Data Engineering, or DevOps roles
- At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience
- Strong expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, and SQL Data Warehousing, Microsoft Fabric
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.) for data pipelines
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools in Azure
- Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (B2+ level)
- Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Power BI
- Strong knowledge of Python, PySpark, SQL, or PowerShell for automation
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates)
- Understanding of Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Parquet file formats
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized data workflows
- Knowledge of real-time data processing using Azure Stream Analytics or Kafka
