Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer (IT Engineer 3) in the Cloud Data Engineering/Rental (CDER) team. CDER is responsible for the Development and Operations of Rental solutions on the Enterprise Data Lake. On this team you will be designing technical solutions that provide daily insights to the competitive landscape of our Rental Products. You will be defining technical direction and solution roadmaps for new applications in the Rental domain. You will be providing technical leadership for a team of engineers currently delivering new Data APIs, Structures, and Solutions.
This individual will have strong networking and collaboration skills that enable partnerships across a wide variety of stakeholders including Data & Analytics, Data Science, Product, and IT Solution teams. Finally, the individual in this role is expected to keep an eye on the EM enterprise architecture to build new solutions and capabilities that could increase the value of our applications to our stakeholders.
As the IT Engineer 3, you will help translate business requirements into solutions that align with the overall Data Strategy vision while meeting the needs of our Rental solutions. You will be one of the Rental domain Data Engineering subject matter expert (SME) to be consulted by Data & Analytics, Data Governance, as well as other EM engineers, and Leadership, on the use of Data Assets to meet business needs. This individual will be responsible for ensuring our solutions are designed with operational excellence in mind - solutions will be performance tuned to meet customers' expectations with capabilities to scale with the gravity of the data being processed. This position will require the individual to stay informed of enterprise architecture alignment as well as its potential impact to the solutions we support, standards, and "best practices". It is critical that this IT Engineer 3 takes responsibility for the environment, ensures cloud resources are optimized, applies automation where applicable, and measures adherence to SLAs.
- Leads estimating efforts in project planning; provides technical leadership to project teams and/or leads project teams within own area/department and across functional teams.
- Accurately scopes deliverables including technical dependencies, risks, and issues to ensure seamless delivery, technology effectiveness and security.
- Provides guidance and oversight on technical matters within a solution to ensure that the technologies are secure, interoperate and connect appropriately and support company vision and strategy.
- Collaborates with other Architects, Engineers, & Analysts on solutions to improve Rental Domain Solutions, including the overall quality and cost optimizations therein.
- Establish and/or revise, monitor and establish service level agreements (SLAs) to best support our client Solutions.
- Listens to and evaluates stakeholder needs to determine and provide high quality solutions that align with customer expectations; identifies opportunities for improvement; ensures others are aligned with customer expectations and performance metrics.
- Actively leads, coaches, mentors, and teaches other engineers; using influence, expertise, and leadership skills to support other teams as they implement Rental data solutions.
- Protect our customers, our employees, and our brands by incorporating security and compliance in all decisions; ensures security policy and procedure requirements are met; continuously identifies opportunities for improving security and implements strategies to improve our security posture.
- Subject matter expert in multiple areas of responsibility; represents team within and outside own department

Qualifications
Required:
- Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
- Must reside in the United States (does not include Alaska or Hawaii)
- Must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field
- 5+ years' experience in application development
- Understanding of Scala and willingness to learn
- 2+ years' experience with Python
- 2+ years' experience with SQL
- Must possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to effectively defend ideas and solutions; produce technical relevant presentations, convey complex information in a manner that is easily understood and actionable to both non-technical and technical leaders
- Professional experience identifying and gathering solution needs; performing risk analysis, collaborating on architecture / solution design; acting and driving key stakeholder acceptance
- Ability to communicate at all levels, build and foster relationships, including coaching and mentoring Engineers, Analysts and other team members
- Proven ability to operate in a highly autonomous fashion, repeatedly exercises exceptional, independent judgment, balances strategic against tactical planning
- Experience collaborating, developing, documenting, and maintaining deliverables
- Experience with large scale data Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Azure, SQL Server and Databricks
- Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
Preferred:
- 2+ years' experience API Gateway services such as Kong preferred
- 2+ years' experience with Scala
