Position Summary
Provide premium software support and services to Ensono mainframe clients as they relate to Mainframe IMS systems.
Position reports to Manager - Mainframe Database
Key Areas of Focus for this Role
- Fulfill customer service requests for mainframe z/OS customers in a timely manner as they pertain to IMS and related OEM software products.
- Provide primary upgrade support for IMS and products related to IMS.
- Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to best practices and Ensono standards (for productivity/scalability purposes).
- Assist in the onboarding of new Ensono clients with respect to IMS and related OEM software products.
- Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementations.
- Follow ITSM change control procedures

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of professional experience in IMS for administration and systems programming support (CA, BMC and IBM tools for IMS is a plus).
- Extensive experience with the following:
- Recent installation and customization of IMS subsystems (TM, DB,DBCTL)
- Troubleshooting and solving of IMS System and database issues
- Troubleshooting and solving IMS software related issues
- Working knowledge of Common Service layer
- Solid working knowledge of DBRC
- Strong knowledge of SMP/E and its role in the installation process
- Base knowledge in Unix System Services(USS) related to IMS requirements in USS
- Strong JCL skills
- Knowledge in best practices of software management, maintenance and documentation
- Configure and manage IMS in a parallel sysplex environment
- Develop innovation, strategies, processes and best practices in IMS systems programming
- Ability to work with clients as an Ensono ambassador for IMS related matters
Other Qualifications
- Reviewing new versions of IMS for functionality, advising how they benefit the client
- Vendor consultations for problems and questions
- Working knowledge of SMS, IDCAMS, DF/DSS and other standard utilities and subsystems.
- Assembly Language and exit coding
- Identification and resolution of performance issues
- Understanding of IMS database structures and access methods
- Understanding of IMS connect, MFS for IMS message formatting, Compression routines, Randomizers.
- IMS data sharing in a SYSPLEX environment
- Extracting information from IMS logs
- Knowledge in IMS catalog and Managed ACB's
- Experience with DB2 and DB2 upgrades a plus
