The Security Operations Specialist reports directly to the Regional Security Operations Manager. Responsible for general data center physical security operations to include physical security systems and operating procedures. The SOS conducts day-to-day activities involving access control, including badge processing and visitor/vendor control. Follows company safety programs and policies. Is trained in all applicable physical security systems, including access control and CCTV. Ensures physical security systems and controls are operating efficiently. Provides direct customer service to associates, clients, and visitors. Complies with government health and safety regulations.
Job Description
The SOS position is comprised of shift work (off hours to include weekends and holidays) and is responsible for general security operations at the local data center to include physical security applications and systems and devices; conducts day-to-day activities involving access control administration, including access badge processing of employee, contractor, visitor control; conducts inspections and inventories audits security devices and assets; daily visitor log maintenance; managing assigned tickets; reporting security device faults; reporting of security incidents; and the escalation of critical events: activate remote access, independently make security related decisions; assist security operations in emergency situations and backfill duties of other SOS when needed temporarily to meet coverage requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Basic computer skills and experience (Microsoft Word, Email management, data entry)
- General knowledge of access control and CCTV systems
- Strong written and oral communications skills; Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills with the ability to effectively interact with peers, customers, and vendors
Preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Security guard training certification preferred
- 1-2 years' prior experience working in security preferred
- Calm under pressure to respond to emergency situations
Duties and Responsibilities
- Front desk data center security operations, to include access control and CCTV monitoring, and administrative support of processing requests for access
- Badge administration to include issuing of Temporary access badges
- Perform security rounds (physical check) of the data center facility
- Critical alarm monitoring, emergency responses and critical event escalations
- Ensure Security Operations Center (SOC) business function is maintained to standard, policy and procedure and provide an excellent Customer experience
- Conduct daily inspection of Physical Security assets, devices, and systems
- Serve as the data center primary point of contact for all reported Physical Security incidents, critical events, and asset impairments within the data center
- Ensure all Physical Security systems are functioning properly and attempt to resolve any failures or issues through proper reporting and coordination with security maintenance vendors when required
- Investigate and escalate reported access issues
- Ensure all required security logs, inventories, and inspections are maintained for audit compliance (NIST, PCI, SOC12, ISO) of related Physical Security controls
- First responder to emergency situations; contacts 911 when appropriate
- Reports suspicious activities to local authorities
- Administrative support for the department
- Participates in required training
- Adheres to policies and procedures
- Various other duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned
