Overview:
The Workplace Retirement Plan Consultant role will assist Financial Advisors with prospecting, selling, and retaining Workplace Retirement Plans, in support of Edward Jones 2030 firm ambition to grow households, assets under care, and financial wellness learners. The Senior role will focus on the largest and most complex plan opportunities, and over time, is expected to lead a team of Workplace Consultants (WRPCs). This role will have daily contact with Financial Advisors with a primary goal of closing retirement plans business, and secondary goals of driving retirement plan adoption by FAs, and prospecting / sourcing business owners in conjunction with financial advisors. WRPCs will be the primary home office support for Financial Advisors who are focused on plan business, including Market Retirement Plan Consultants (MRPCs). The WRPC will take inbound calls from FAs, make outbound calls, visit FAs in person, support Regional and Market meetings, and may, at times, meet with Edward Jones Retirement Plan clients. The WRPCs will also interact with Product Partner wholesalers, Third Party Administrators (TPAs), and Investment Fiduciaries, and will also work with EJ internal wholesalers for other lines of business. This is a home-based role, with expected travel of 25%-75%, based on demand.

Depending on experience/qualifications, this role may be filled as a Workplace Consultant or Senior Workplace Consultant.
What you will do:
- Create, develop, and implement business development sales and training programs that drive retirement opportunities in assigned markets and regions.
- Assist advisors in developing their value proposition, understanding the roles and responsibilities of key stake holders including, the Recordkeeper, TPA, Investment Managers, Plan Administrator, 3(16) and Co-Fiduciary, both 3(21) and 3(38)
- Focus on larger and more complex plan opportunities, with a goal of driving Assets Under Care targets (for Senior Workplace Consultant)
- For large plan opportunities, support financial advisors with Requests for Proposals, and develop sales strategies that highlight the Edward Jones competitive advantage and value proposition. On occasion assist Financial Advisors with client meetings, plan annual reviews, and sales meetings.
- Act as the home office contact for Market Retirement Planning Consultants, ensuring the field and home office are acting in concert, and provide additional support when needed.
- Collaborate closely with Edward Jones internal wholesaling teams that support business owners, High Net worth, and Financial Planning clients, as well as the Edward Jones service and operational teams.
- Support firm goals by proactively identifying plan opportunities, analyzing needs (pricing, service issues, features) and proactively contacting FAs in order to win or retain plans.
- Support the development and delivery of Retirement Plan acumen and training at Market and Regional events to educate advisors on the retirement industry. Discuss the differences and advantages of products including 401(k), Profit Sharing, 403(b), 457, SEP, SIMPLE, Cash Balance and DB plans to help determine what solution best suits their client's needs.
- Effectively communicate complex topics and regulations, including Fiduciary Responsibility, ERISA, Secure Act, State Mandates, and more and provide industry insights, trends and data, to Support the advisor's retirement plan business growth.
- Contribute to development of business development concepts, marketing materials, and Joneslink material by acting as a Retirement Subject Matter Expert. (for Senior Workplace Consultant)
- Lead projects for department initiatives to fully implement new processes, strategies, and efficiencies. (for Workplace Consultant)
- Over time, lead a team of Retirement Plan Consultants (for Senior Workplace Consultant)

Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Series 7, 65 required; highly preferred to have upon hire, required to successfully obtain within first 6 months in the role
- CFP, CEPA, AIF industry certifications are preferred
Skills & Experience Needed:
- To be considered for Workplace Consultant, 3-5 years of experience required, 6-10 years preferred
- To be considered for Senior Workplace Consultant, 11-14 years of experience required, 15+ years preferred
- Business development, sales, and pipeline management experience
- Executive management and presentation, oral and written communication, business plan development and execution skills
- Client management skills: active listening; collaboration; relationship building; and management, flexibility and adaptability.
Functional Knowledge Required:
- Industry knowledge - Deep retirement plan and wealth management industry knowledge, and the convergence of the two. Knowledge of industry trends, competitive set, including retirement plan advisors, plan recordkeepers, TPAs, and asset managers. Understanding of tools and technologies that financial advisors use in the retirement plan market
- Understanding of how success in the Retirement Plan Business drives success in the wealth management business.
- Product knowledge - broad Retirement Plan knowledge of ERISA and Non-ERISA Plans including 401(k), Profit Sharing, 403(b), 457, MEPs, PEPs, Cash Balance, and Defined Benefit, as well as SEP, SIMPLE, and Solo(K). Working knowledge of wealth management product and service offerings.
- Organizational Knowledge - Strong knowledge of Edward Jones culture and values, regional and branch structure, and product set with an emphasis on the Vendor-Held Retirement Plan business
