Job Overview
Position Schedule: Full-Time
The Senior Director of Executive Communications will lead a team responsible for developing and delivering strategic, high-impact executive communications for senior leaders across Edward Jones. This role ensures alignment of messages with the firm's objectives, enhances the visibility of leadership, and supports key organizational priorities. A primary focus of this role will be serving as a strategic counselor and communications partner to the Managing Partner (CEO), ensuring their voice and messages are effectively conveyed to clients, colleagues and communities. In addition to crafting communications for the CEO, this leader will establish and lead a center of excellence for executive communications, driving thought leadership and ensuring consistent messages across executive platforms. This role will be responsible to the head of Enterprise Communications and sit within the External Affairs division.

Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Development
- Build and lead a high-performing team of executive communications professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and individual growth.
- Oversee the team's workflow and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of impactful communication materials that meet the needs of multiple senior executives.
Executive Messages and Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive executive communications strategy that positions Edward Jones' leadership team as respected industry thought leaders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Managing Partner (CEO), crafting messages that reflects her vision, leadership priorities and perspectives on industry trends.
- Develop communications on behalf of the Managing Partner, proactively partnering to shape and expand her thought leadership presence through proactive outreach and reactive response materials for speaking engagements, media interviews and participation in industry events.
- Guide the team in crafting speeches, presentations, talking points, and other content for senior executives, tailoring messages to resonate with specific audiences and diverse channels.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to identify key storytelling and engagement opportunities, ensuring a consistent and compelling leadership narrative that supports the firm's long-term strategy and brand identity.
Thought Leadership and Brand Positioning
- Partner with the Managing Partner and other senior executives to expand their visibility and influence, including securing high impact speaking engagements, media opportunities, and industry event participation.
- Shape executive thought leadership strategies to reinforce Edward Jones' position as an industry innovator and advocate for investors.
- Maintain a consistent voice and tone across all executive communications, strengthening the firm's reputation and thought leadership position.
Internal Communications
- Lead the development of compelling and transparent internal communication initiatives for senior leaders, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and fostering employee engagement.
- Partner with HR and internal communications teams to amplify leadership messages on organizational updates, culture-building efforts, and change management needs.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of internal executive communications and implement improvements as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior executives, offering guidance on communication strategies and messages.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including PR agencies and industry organizations, to maximize the impact of executive communications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure message alignment and integration across all external and internal communication channels.
TRAVEL: This position will require 30%+ travel. Typically, travel is 1-2 full days at a time but could vary based on Firm needs.
Edward Jones' compensation and benefits package includes medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, voluntary benefits (such as accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness), short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage. Edward Jones offers a 401k retirement plan, and tax-advantaged accounts: health savings account, and flexible spending account. Edward Jones observes ten paid holidays and provides 15 days of vacation for new associates beginning on January 1 of each year, as well as sick time, personal days, and a paid day for volunteerism. Hiring Maximum: $286900

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, reputation, or executive communications, including experience leading a team.
- Extensive experience advising C-suite executives, with a demonstrated ability to shape and amplify their voices in meaningful ways.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies that elevate executive visibility, influence and impact.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to create compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams, including setting priorities and allocating resources effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of the financial services industry and its regulatory environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
