Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

The Head of Data is accountable for our Firm's overall data capabilities to enable the firm to fully leverage our data assets to fuel achievement of our purpose. This role is accountable for creating measurable value through our data assets, enabling all forms of business outcomes, establishing governance, and aligning the care and usage of our data with relevant business, regulatory, legal and privacy mandates, as well as using data as a competitive advantage, unleashed through our Knowledge Powered-AI efforts. This role will engage with external partners, vendors, and industry experts to stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices. This role will lead high-performing teams of professionals with expertise in AI to develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap and interdependencies for these key areas and implement them across the enterprise.

What you'll do:

  • Define data strategy practices, lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the firm's data strategy in collaboration with leaders across Digital, Data, and Operations; Business Segment leaders; the Head of Analytics, in addition to other key stakeholders. Institute an enterprise operating model that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the data strategy end-to-end.
  • Lead a team of data governance, data strategy, data stewardship, and data solutions leaders and professionals, inclusive of workforce planning, talent and performance management.
  • Work with leaders across the Firm to establish the vision for managing data as an enterprise business asset and to maximize the ROI on those data assets, including the identification of new kinds, types and sources of data to enable business innovation.
  • Partner with the leader of Analytics to foster the creation of a data-driven culture, grow data literacy across the enterprise and evolve behaviors for the appropriate use of information taking into consideration changing security requirements, privacy needs, ethical values, societal expectations, and cultural norms in collaboration with the CISO and CPO.
  • Serve as the key stakeholder to the development, deployment and maintenance of the Firms Data portfolios supporting Digital and the 5-Year infrastructure roadmap.
  • Advance how data is defined, tracked, and measured to ensure its accuracy and completeness to meet business requirements, including Data Quality, Data Lineage and Metadata Management.
  • Oversee an adequate information trust model and effective controls on data quality, data interoperability and data sources to support key books and records and critical data elements.
  • Oversee adherence to data policies and standards, including oversight of master data and reference data for compliance with policy, standards and conceptual models.
  • Partner with Digital, Data, and Operations Risk Management to ensure that appropriate audit controls exist for data that serves as the source material for regulatory reports.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Privacy Officer to create policies and controls for the appropriate protection and usage of information assets.
  • Organize and chair a data governance council to provide sponsorship for and oversight of governance policy creation and compliance.
  • Partner with the head of Software Infrastructure to implement data technology capabilities for the build, test and operations of data supporting infrastructure and data pipelines in adherence with data governance and information security requirements.
  • Partner closely with Operating Committee, Value Team Leaders, Business Segment Leaders, and other critical functions on end-to-end business data solutions.
  • Shift the mindset at all levels in the organization and advance overall data literacy across the enterprise. Leverage our firm priorities as forcing functions to drive that data maturity higher.

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:

Hiring Minimum: $196626
Hiring Maximum: $334794

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years relevant years in related fields with progressive roles.
  • 10+ years leadership preferred.
  • Strong desire & ability to attract, develop, engage and grow talent for future.
  • Ability to identify creative ways to extract maximum impact from our current data maturity.
  • Ability to negotiate with external partners/vendors/ customers and senior leaders/General Partners across the business.
  • Ability to influence with and without authority in a matrixed environment.
