Our Finance and Administration department delivers efficient and effective operations and processes that are foundational to EcoVadis’ ability to drive continuous  improvement in companies’ sustainable business practices at scale.
As our Legal Counsel, you'll be joining an amazing Legal team as part of the Finance and Administration department, with talented peers located all around the globe. 
You will offer key legal support on all aspects of the contracting cycle in different regions (including France, UK). This includes working with clients within the EcoVadis Group, their suppliers, and our providers. You will lead on contract topics with our business partners. You will also work on EU business insurance topics as well as corporate and HR matters related to our office in Spain. 

Key responsibilities include:
Reporting to the Legal Counsel Manager, you will carry out these key responsibilities:

1. Contracts:

  • Legal Counsel will draft, review and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including sales contracts, SaaS contracts, framework agreements, addendums, standard terms and conditions, customer specific contracts, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Data Processing Agreements and also marketing agreements, software licence agreements, service and vendor agreements;
  • Providing strategic legal advice to and support the Alliances and Partnership team in relation to contracts with business partners (e.g. training partners, integration partners);
  • Identifying and mitigating the contractual risk and giving guidance as to adherence to the applicable law and necessary approvals in line with company’s approval framework;

2. Other legal tasks:

  • Support for maintaining and administration of the company’s EU business insurances coverage
  • Regularly collaborate with other teams and provide strategic legal advice and support – Sales, Customer Success, Renewals, Finance, Marketing, HR, Data Protection Officer; 
  • Local HR and corporate support for EcoVadis in Spain;
  • Responding to variety of requests coming from other functions;
  • IP, including trademark support;
  • Work with each team member in the Legal Team if and when needed to provide support to other regions (EMEA, Americas) and in the completion of any contract or project;
  • Work with external legal counsel to ensure matters are progressed efficiently and brought to a satisfactory conclusion, review external counsel advice, follow up if necessary, summarise the advice for consumption by internal customers; and
  • Actively monitor and review legal changes in countries relevant to EcoVadis’ operations and provide timely updates on legislation that may impact the EcoVadis’ activities and operations, including ESG regulations. 

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified lawyer in Spain or France with an excellent academic degree, knowledge of English law is a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience as a lawyer in an international organization or law firm including practical experience working with contracts from different jurisdictions (France)
  • Languages: Fluent in English, French and Spanish; fluency in other European languages is advantageous
  • Familiarity with CLM tools (Juro a plus) and automations (Slack a plus) is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge and experiences in tech companies and with SaaS providers

In addition, you will:

  • Be able to work in a fast-paced and fast-changing international environment and bring an agile mindset;
  • Be team oriented, professional, focused on cooperation not competition, with the ability to respond and be flexible to client demands, looking for alternative solutions, whilst adhering to internal policies;
  • Have executive-level communication skills, verbal and written, in English and French;
  • Show commercial awareness and the ability to align legal strategies with business objectives.
  • Enjoy taking the initiative & ownership and acting independently;
  • Be proficient in using legal tools and technology for daily work, including for research, contract lifecycle management and efficient communication; 
  • Be enthusiastic about embracing the EcoVadis values, a modern & diverse work culture and a global team; and
  • Have an interest or passion for sustainability - it is a plus.
