Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Test Lab Engineer. This position is based at our Belmont, NC location. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year.

What you'll do:

The Test Lab Engineer will lead electrical testing in the electrical test laboratory located in Belmont, NC. The power test lab supports Eaton's Power Components Division (PCD) engineering department and directly contributes to the product development, sustaining, innovation, and certification goals. This role will support and verify complex test setups performed by techs, oversee lab safety to proactively prevent incidents and ensure tech / customer safety when performing setups or testing. The lab engineer will help maintain the lab test equipment, write, prepare, and process test reports, manage lab workload, track test request status, and participate / lead strategic planning of lab equipment upgrades or repairs. This position will become the subject matter expert around all electrical testing performed at the site. Additional requirements will be to implement and maintain 5S activities as well as supporting all safety initiatives.

  • Lead and perform electrical testing in accordance with IEEE, IEC, GB and NEMA standards for electrical LV products, to meet product development and product line support testing demands.
  • Lead lab Electrical Safety and EHS activities to ensure safe conditions have been met in accordance with appropriate legislative and Eaton safety policies.
  • Manage the test schedule for the Lab as well as assisting with aligning tasks for lab technicians, equipment calibrations for the lab and coordinate with sub-contract companies or customers as needed to complete all position required activities.
  • Support capital equipment and strategic road mapping process for the test lab to identify equipment upgrades, capacity increases, or new technologies that could be incorporated.
  • Conduct daily duties and additional special assignments or tasks requested by manager to ensure lab functionality.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights outside in inclimate weather.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in test engineering
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three years of test engineering experience
  • Understanding of low voltage components and distribution equipment with experience in electrical product testing
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment such as oscilloscope, Multimeters & Megger equipment
  • Solid working knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NEMA, and UL standards that relate to low voltage products
  • Working knowledge of LabVIEW software package
  • Experience with directing and training peer's on test setups and operation in a test environment
