Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Test Bay Technician.

What you'll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the maintenance of equipment and parts, as well as UPS testing for the services function of the Critical Power Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) business in Canada. Provide field service support and consultation such as acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage systems; advise customers and provide best technical solution to solve the customer issue; complete assigned jobs with assistance from lead technicians and engineers; conduct required tests and calibration using test equipment; check and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Fosters an environment that promotes Eaton's goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement through participation and teamwork
  • Advises local leadership when required product assembly duration cannot be met
  • Communicate and resolve schematic issues/concerns/errors with the Engineering team

Functions:

Responsibilities related to Process, Continuous Improvement, and/or Development;

  • Expected to understand the order, drawing, material and volume seasonality as well as factory supplies
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Embraces and assists in the deployment of all corporate initiatives such as Lean (ie. 5S), MESH, EBS
  • Maintain all service equipment including all test equipment, tools issued to meet specifications including EBE, ISO requirements, etc. in good working condition and maintain sufficient inventory to respond to standard calls.
  • Participates in weekly review meetings and production planning with functional leadership, as applicable
  • Provide timely, detailed and accurate reports on service work performed, product performance, and warranty liabilities to company expense and time allocation.
  • Coordinate the electrical safety glove - testing program, to ensure certification is maintained.

Responsibilities related to Operations and/or Development;

  • Work with supply chain to ensure factory acceptance testing is completed in a timely manner.
  • Performs functionality display of equipment to customers
  • Manage all service parts and equipment in the distribution center by receiving, evaluating and determining functionality.
  • Refurbishment of used parts and equipment.
  • Scraps non-functional parts and equipment
  • Setup the equipment required for testing and perform testing of products.
  • Maintenance and clean-up of the test bay portion of the distribution center.
  • Determine wiring sequence, overall layout and location of components to drawing
  • Setup and energizing for the purposes of battery recharge.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• Grade 12 or GED from an accredited institution is required
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on electrical maintenance work
• Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:
• Certified Technician, C.Tech. designation.
• 5 years experience in mechanical assembly, power and/or control wiring
• Experience in basic testing and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable.
• Experience with warehousing, material handling and industrial truck operation
