Eaton's ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Shipping Clerk. The core hours are 10am to 6pm Monday - Thursday, Friday 8am to 4pm. The hourly rate for this position is 24.53 per hour.

What you'll do:

The Shipping Clerk ensures that all items shipped by the plant are distributed and documented in a timely manner, with a focus on being a liaison between Sherman shipping and production teams and Customer Service. This position will also serve as the Back-Up Shipping Team Lead as necessary, with advanced notice and adequate training completion.

  • Serve as a liaison between Sherman shipping, production and Customer Service; and communicate needs and issues to our freight/carrier partners.
  • Responsible for managing and arranging shipments in alignment with order due dates. This includes proactively identifying order shortages, block removal, and group resolution, and other SAP order management techniques as required.
  • Responsible for grouping sales orders to optimize trailer utilization.
  • Partner with your Lead and Supervisor to determine the root cause of shipping errors and help develop corrective actions.
  • Become familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
  • Perform 5S & Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Perform back up lead duties, as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety, quality, production, and delivery without direct supervision on a daily basis.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a production shipping environment (or similar environment).
  • Authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Sherman, TX (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
  • Experience in all functions of SAP related to shipping.
  • Experience utilizing Excel, Word and E-mail.

Position Criteria:

  • Within six (6) months be able to drive every type of forklift in the plant and also drive the Yard Dog.
  • Within six (6) months be able to identify, pick and load Cable Tray.
  • Within six (6) months be able to look ahead in production schedules to proactively identify product not available for shipments, any blocks on shipments, schedule trucks several days in advance.
  • Able to perform multiple functions simultaneously in the shipping department (Pulling, Picking, Wrapping, Staging, Loading, Shipping Coordination, BOLs, Monitoring Picks, Securing Trailers, Moving Trailers).
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and execute projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to obtain internal powered industrial equipment certification.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and math skills
  • Ability to work without close supervision and work a flexible schedule including overtime.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to manage high volume of tasks and to be responsive to internal and external customers.
  • Able to fill out bills of ladings and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers, and process in a timely manner.
  • Ability to reach, grasp and manipulate.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime, including Saturdays and up to 12 hours in a shift, as needed by the business.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift (eight to twelve hours) and perform repetitious tasks.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push, and pull objects that are up to 40 pounds without assistance, occasionally 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
  • Requires PPE to include safety glasses, steel-toe metatarsal shoes, hand, arm and hearing protection (as required in high noise areas).
