Senior Technician Mechatronics

Eaton's IS VEH Technology division is currently seeking a Senior Technician Mechatronics. This position is based at our Southfield, MI facility.

The Sr. Technician Mechatronics is responsible for testing, assembly, and disassembly of prototype products and vehicles. This role will have specialized skills and a high degree of expertise in operation of laboratory equipment such as powertrain, engine, and transmission dynamometers and durability test equipment. The position will be expected to observe and enforce all existing safety measures and contribute to the culture of safety at the Southfield facility. Applicant will be part of a dynamic and high-performing team and will need to work both independently and with teammates, including engineering, outside contractors, suppliers, and customers.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $78750.0 - $115500.0 a year.
Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you'll do:

  • Assemble and disassemble prototype mechanical and/or electrical components and systems, contribute to product improvements, and collect data.
  • Set up instrumentation for both standard and specialized testing, initiate and run tests, use special instrumentation and software, and select test methods or processes.
  • Assemble and designs specialized electrical harnesses and circuits
  • Experience with automotive or heavy-duty truck component electrical circuits
  • Provide technical advice and direction in the design, fabrication, and instrumentation of test fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fixtures as needed to complete test request.
  • Interface with internal and external customers and project teams.
  • Demonstrate Eaton's Learning Culture by learning from and mentoring peers, apprentices, interns, and engineers
  • Stay abreast of various test & instrumentation systems and methodologies

Qualifications:

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associates in Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology and/or Electronics from an accredited institution with four (4) years experience in Automotive and/or Trucking OR Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution with five (5) years experience in Automotive and/or Trucking.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • No relocation is available for this position. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Southfield, MI to be considered. Active Duty Military are exempt from this geographical limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CDL License

Skills:

  • Experience with working in technical teams to accomplish objectives
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Technical creativity and inventiveness
  • Working knowledge of land vehicle systems in general, including chassis systems, hybrid, and electric vehicle powertrain systems
  • Experience with the integration of systems composed of mechanical, electrical, and control/communication elements
  • English literacy and fluency
