Senior Product Engineer

Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer.

What you'll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Perform product line support as an extension to the technical center group accountable for product design, enhancements, and performance for Eaton's Industrial Circuit Breaker product lines with intelligent, embedded sensing and connected systems.

Primary focus is ensuring the electro-mechanical product portfolio is fully qualified to meet customer functional requirements and maintain third party certification and compliance with standards as part of the ongoing operations of a manufacturing plant.

Supports the troubleshooting and resolution of the electromechanical performance and smart accessories yield and quality issues. Collaborates with design engineers on performance enhancements to improve existing products; validating changes in design or manufacturing, validating cost reductions (VA/VE), and addressing digital connectivity application issues.

The position interfaces with design center (mechanical and electronics), product line marketing and plant manufacturing teams, quality personnel, suppliers, and customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Understand product requirements, applications & governing standards (UL, CSA), test procedures, and circuit breaker technology & design intent. Support documentation development such as manufacturing instruction and visual aids to support the requirements.

B. Enhance electro-mechanical systems and smart devices. Identify areas of weakness in the production line or finished products to make recommendations for improvement.

C. Ensure that all components work together seamlessly to achieve the desired functionality and performance. Assist with resolution of manufacturing and or production issues relating to product function to maintain compliance with requirements, standards, and specifications.

D. Acts as a liaison between Technical Center Team and Feeders Plants in handling product performance non-conformances to identify root cause corrections.

E. Evaluates materials, processes and as needed initiates engineering change request to correct, enhance, update, and improve engineering documentation to satisfy customer and manufacturer of the product.

F. Collaborating with design engineers and other professionals to improve the reliability and performance of the systems, wiring, sensors, and embedded electronics.

G. Collaborate with Quality to provide product improvements and feedback to customer complaints. Utilize statistical quality tools when required to analyze data to evaluate and improve designs.

H. Supports manufacturing to ensure efficient production methods and tools are utilized effectively.

I. Supports new product or product extension launches as liaison to manufacturing facility. Actively participate and support on LEAN and EQMS initiatives

J. Comply with approved policies and processes and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronics, Robotics) from an accredited institution
• 3 years of experience working in electromechanical component or systems design
• Bilingual with fluency in Spanish and English
• No relocation offered for this position.
• Must be authorized to work in USA.
• May require 20% travel. #LI-AR7

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Six-Sigma quality tools.
• General knowledge of product design for cost-effective manufacture, working knowledge of regulatory standards.
• Experience with engineering computer applications. Pro/Engineer, Solid Works or similar, Excel, and computer-based simulation modeling (static stress, thermal, kinematics/dynamics, tolerances, etc.).
