Eaton's EPG EAS Electrical Automation Solutions division is currently seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer.

What you'll do:

Eaton's Energy Automation Solutions Division is looking for a Senior Power System Engineer. This position is located at our office in Brossard, Quebec and offers hybrid work opportunities. Candidates should reside within 80km of Brossard.

Position Overview:
Eaton's CYME International T&D is a world-class Power Engineering Solutions provider with an established reputation for customer responsiveness and technical expertise. Our solutions stand behind thousands of T&D projects in over 100 countries around the world. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the senior power system engineer will participate in the research, design, prototyping, testing, and documentation of new features for the CYME power engineering software solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Executes complex new product development tasks in power systems.
  • Participates in all new product development phases: specification analysis, research and prototype, design documentation, support software development team during implementation, testing and user documentation.
  • Collaborates with the software developers' team during the development cycle.
  • Collaborates with the quality assurance team to identify software quality gaps and for testing automation.
  • Provides 2nd level technical support for users.
  • Supports the coaching of junior colleagues.
  • Provides power system expertise in new product development and in custom solutions projects.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of power systems or in simulation software development.
  • Fluency in English and French (working proficiency). Fluency in French and English is required for this position to communicate with colleagues, customers, and partners located inside and outside of Quebec, as well as to understand technical documentation in the field of our industry.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Candidates must live within an 80-kilometer radius of the Brossard facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University graduate degree in electrical engineering.
  • University degree from the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering (IEPE).
  • Knowledge in power system software (e.g. CYME, EMTP).
  • Knowledge in mathematics: linear algebra and numerical calculations.
  • Knowledge in programming language: Python.
