Eaton's AER FED Fluid Electrical Distribution division is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This position will be located at our Torrance, CA facility.

This position is for a technical role in the Mechanical Engineering group, supporting new development and existing design of Power Supply systems. In this role, you will design enclosures and parts including PCBs for Power Supply per EE's Electrical Design following company's standard procedures and tools.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $95737.5 - $140415.0 a year.

What you'll do:

• Provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for new product development, product improvements, test components, rigs, and systems. Has the decision-making authority on behalf of Mechanical Engineering for system, component, and/or test.
• Generate reliable, cost effective, manufacturable Mechanical Designs that meet or exceed the needs of customer applications as well as comply with all applicable governing regulatory standards (SAE, UL, CE, ISO, etc.).
• Lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineering principles to identify and understand issues, and to generate design solutions for various product development challenges associated with Power Supplies.
• Plan and integrate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Design For Six Sigma tools and approaches, engineering Solidworks 3D modeling software for Mechanical design and development activities.
• Interface with manufacturing and quality assurance personnel in establishing quality requirements for Mechanical Design.
• Aid in generating technical papers, technical articles, patent disclosures, and technical discussions under the guidance of more experienced engineers.
• Participate in the development of production tooling and assembly fixtures to enable error-proof and cost effective production of Power Supplies.
• Achieve familiarity with the products of the corporation common to activity and study the engineering and products of competitors.
• Inform supervisor regularly on progress of work and issues requiring supervisory attention.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of four (4) years experience in mechanical design using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Torrance, CA will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in STRUCTURAL / THERMAL analysis.
• Experience in P-CAD or Altium.

Position Success Criteria:
• Proficiency in computer simulation and modeling software (stress, thermal, dynamics, tolerance, etc.).
• General understanding of power supply design and components, as well as good working knowledge of regulatory standards associated with the products and assemblies.
• Must be team oriented, with excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication.
• As subject matter expert for Mechanical design - should be able and willing to mentor others in the division.
