Eaton's PCD division is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the team at our manufacturing facility in El Paso, TX.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will plan and execute manufacturing engineering projects related to manufacturing methods, processes, systems, and equipment using comprehensive knowledge of existing capabilities and new technologies. You will lead manufacturing process improvements, project planning, and execution of RIE's (Rapid Improvement Events) in the assigned production areas. This role will include process conceptualization, feasibility assessments, and process validation. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will execute strategic capital projects, including automation, run meetings, execute major equipment purchases, replicate existing equipment, and develop training and operational documentation. This position will also lead capacity and capital equipment analysis, vendor selection, and manufacturing development. The role has a heavy focus on reducing waste, cost, and inefficiencies, while creating standards, increasing value and employee engagement.

Essential Functions Include:

  • CNC and Welding Production - Develop and optimize CNC programs using G-code and M-code. Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and grinders. Set up and operate spot welding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance. Develop and optimize welding processes to support main assembly lines. Maintain documentation of welding procedures, inspections, and maintenance activities. Conduct tests and inspections to ensure weld quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement - Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and work process flow. Performs and prepares capacity studies. Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Collaborate with PLS and operation teams to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Lean Expertise - Works with the requirements established by Lean (Standard Work Flow, Manning, Layout, Operation Balance Chart, VSM, Cross Training and TPM), EQS and Mesh. Responsible for the implementation of Lean / Kaizen Events in mfg. areas. Analyzes equipment/processes using six sigma tools to identify and implements improvements.
  • Capital Projects - Provides guidance for the proper selection of manufacturing equipment and tools. Justifies, manages, and implements capital projects including appropriation generation, establish requirements, getting quotes, placing orders, monitor/reports progress and ensure the completion of projects.
  • Documentation - Generates, reviews, updates, and develops JSA's, Standard Work Instruction, Visual aids and MIL's. Develops & updates VSM for Currents and Future states.
  • Safety - Performs safety analysis, safety inspections and remediation projects in coordination with the MESH department for the production operations.

You have a strong background in developing and improving manufacturing methods to reduce scrap and improve on-time performance, along with proficiency in Minitab and experience in EHS practices. Your expertise includes project and capital management. Additionally, you are adept at preparing capacity studies and selecting new technologies to enhance quality and performance. Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechatronics or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing environment including: lean tools, automation / IT project development, and capital projects
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of El Paso, TX will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, including international travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Experience in CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code)
  • Proven experience as a Spot-Welding Engineer or similar role
  • Experience using and implementing Lean (Standard Workflow, Manning, Layout design and modification, Operation Balance Chart, VSM and Cross Training)
