What you'll do:
This position is responsible for maximizing the value of Tax IT offering by creating, prioritizing, and managing the Tax product backlog. The Product Capability Owner is responsible for multiple products which may be managed directly or via management of other product owners. He/She will set and champion the product vision, work with key senior leaders to influence strategic business objectives, develop and maintain the product roadmap, and define key operational processes like the product release schedule. The individual in this role will work closely with business partners and customers to define epics that align with key business objectives for the Scrum or Kanban team. The Product Capability Owner needs to be able to communicate strategy and status at the C level. As a leader within Eaton's IT function, this position will have direct management responsibility, developing and directing multiple Product Teams, including analysts, engineers, or Product Owners to deliver business outcomes for their product area. The Product Capability Owner tracks and manages product funding and defines work priorities for individuals dedicated to the product team. They will balance new features against continuous improvement, system health, and support. In addition, the senior manager works directly with multiple product teams of analysts, engineers and other product team members to execute the product roadmap, guide the product development lifecycle, define user stories, and provide voice of the customer within product processes and across the relevant portfolios and business units.

The Tax IT Product Owner will
- Work closely with the tax function to deliver on the overall strategy for the tax set of capabilities. The Tax Technology team within the tax function will act as business process owners and business analysts to help execute on the overall vision for the strategy in partnership with Tax IT Product Owner and Tax IT product offering. This position is responsible for maximizing the value of [the product] offering by creating, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog.
- Be responsible for simple products with small levels of impact on Eaton Business Outcomes. Work on these products is foundational to the business.

Job responsibilities
- Define and champion the product vision, roadmap, and epics, working with senior leaders to craft strategic business objectives and enterprise-spanning plans to meet customer and business needs
- Own the product backlog, managing and prioritizing user stories, decomposing epics into features, and continuous improvement work
- Plan, manage, and track product funding and the team's time. Is fully responsible for product budget and profit plan
- Manage a team of IT professionals and/or managers, providing appropriate coaching to develop employee skills and continuously improve performance
- Develops and maintains product-specific persona and customer journeys
- Work closely with business stakeholders and customers, understanding their priorities and defining business outcomes and KPIs for the product in collaboration with those key stakeholders
- Communicate goals for product increments and releases. Define goals for team sprints.
- Support the onboarding of internal and external resources
- Accountable for product support, stability, and governance: including data, policy, cybersecurity, and usage
- Act as a functional expert in areas related to the product, including across Eaton's portfolio and with other business units
- Drive definition and continuous improvement of product processes (e.g., Lean, Agile, Scrum, DevSecOps, etc.)
- Understand commercial, business and go-to-market strategies where applicable
- Support a Secure Product Development Lifecycle approach that establishes a strong cybersecurity focus and culture across the entire engineering lifecycle
- Manage contracts with software and service vendors to support the product strategy. Manage vendor strategy and relationship.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting standards. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure that the product meets all regulatory requirements and stays updated with changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies for tax-efficient processes and systems, ensuring alignment with the company's overall financial strategy.
- Oversee the integration of tax and compliance requirements into the product development lifecycle, ensuring that all features and updates comply with relevant regulations.
- Support finance as required for relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies, providing necessary documentation and support during audits and reviews.
- Lead initiatives to automate tax reporting and compliance processes, leveraging advanced technologies such as AI and machine learning.
- Monitor and analyze the impact of new tax regulations on the product and the company's financial operations, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree from an accredited Institution is required.
- Advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as an analyst, BRM, project manager, engineer or program lead on highly complex technology projects and programs.
- 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar position
- Tax technology experience and background required
- Prior manager of people experience required
- Prior experience with implementing tax or financial solutions, i.e. Vertex
- Big 4 or tax consulting firm, or tax software firm experience preferred.
- Expertise with product management and modern product delivery processes
- Strong understanding of and experience working with Agile, Scrum, and/or Kanban software delivery teams
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles
- Strong understanding of modern software development principles including code management, test automation, APIs, microservices, and cloud services.
- Experience with tax calculation engines, tax software packages
- Experience with cloud / SAS solutions
- Experience directly managing and developing professional team members
- Executive communication skills
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with design thinking methodologies
