Eaton's CTO Corporate Technology Office division is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist - DER/EV Management. The position is located in Golden Colorado and offers sponsorship & relocation assistance.

The successful candidate will lead technology projects and other activities, including strategic business unit discussions/alignment, fostering academic and utility partner collaboration, and representing Eaton in public occasions such as conferences and working groups.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $128250.0 - $188100.0 a year.

What you'll do:
Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently looking for a Senior Engineering Specialist - DER/EV Management to join our team in Golden CO. The primary role of this position is to lead number of R&D efforts on cutting edge technologies for Distributed Energy Resource (DER) and electric vehicle (EV) management, control and optimization at the distribution level, grid edge and behind-the-meters. Relocation assistance and future work visa sponsorship will be provided, if needed.
In this role you will:
• Lead complex global technology realization programs/projects utilizing our internal project execution processes, including design reviews and technical reviews.
• Lead strategies for technology roadmaps for specific applications that are linked to and supportive of the overall ERL and business strategies.
• Serve as a subject matter expert externally and internally. This includes leadership/active participation in external industry and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff and consulting internal business and engineering partners.
• Create innovative power distribution and energy management solutions. Implement state-of-the-art concepts and solutions into quick prototypes, feasibility studies, specifications, and eventually into larger systems and product components.
• Investigate, integrate, and validate new product designs abiding by time-based milestones. Engage multiple business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, National labs, universities, and utility customers.
• Innovate, invent, and challenge state-of-art design and process by securing critical intellectual properties through patents and disclosures.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in researching, developing and designing technology solutions. Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality technological innovations.
- Demonstrated strong experience in one or more of the following areas: DER management algorithm and software development, DERMS, communication and data exchange protocols for power systems, microgrids, and integration and control of DER and/or EV for grid services.
- Must be able to relocate to Golden Colorado. Relocation assistance will be provided.
- Sponsorship will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple research projects on DER and/or EV.
- Experience in implementing power systems communication protocols (e.g. Modbus/DNP3/IEC 61850/CAN/Ethernet/MQTT).
- Experience with OpenFMB or similar power systems data framework will be a plus.
- Experience in real-time grid management (e.g. SCADA/EMS/ADMS/DERMS) will be a plus.
- Experience in advanced data analytics and machine/reinforcement learning to address the emerging R&D challenges in modern power systems will be a plus.
