Senior Electrical Test Engineer

Eaton's Electrical division is currently seeking a Sr. Electrical Test Engineer to join our team in Richmond, VA. Relocation benefits will be offered within the US. This position is responsible for supporting the test function by leading, developing, executing, and maintaining robust testing and assembly processes as well as responsible for leading projects.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80,250 - $117,700 a year.

What you'll do:

  • Develop test equipment specifications ensuring compliance with electrical safe work practices, hazard identification / remediation, and OSHA requirements in support of zero incident safety culture (ZISC). Identify potential safety hazards and provides input into the remediation process, ensuring equipment functionality meets required specifications
  • Align cross-functional resources, schedules, projects and other programs with facility needs among production, quality, supply chain, maintenance, engineering, environment, health and safety to achieve unified plant goals (hi-5, production, finance)
  • Provide guidelines for designing, selecting, supporting, servicing, and troubleshooting of test equipment and electrical systems, testing protocols, test data collection and best practices to improve quality, safety and throughput of the test process
  • Support testing function and associated functional needs to support customer expectations, financial performance, and key operational performance indicators (safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory)
  • Coach, mentor, train and guide hourly electrical test employees as supervisor of tester team to achieve personal, career, and professional goals utilizing the Eaton Leadership Model, talent selection process, employee listening processes, performance development tools and other managerial methods
  • Utilize continuous improvement framework (CIF), cost out, kaizen, business process improvement, rapid improvement event structured problem solving, and other methods to create a lean culture and increase operational performance.
  • Assist the quality control team to develop methods and processes for failure analysis

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degrees from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 1 year experience in electrical or controls engineering, design, troubleshooting, and/or testing
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering
  • 4+ years' experience in electrical or controls engineering, design, troubleshooting, and/or testing
  • Experience in electrical testing procedures and protocols
  • Experience with lock out / tag out (LOTO) with focus in electrical
  • Experience supporting engineer to order (ETO) manufacturing
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certified

Position Success Criteria:

  • Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues.
  • Ability to interpret, suggest and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations and standards and implement Electrical Safe Work practices such as NFPA 70E.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus
  • Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team
