We have a new exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist who will directly contribute to a new project focusing on AI-powered innovation to help utilities strengthen wildfire prevention efforts. You will develop highly accurate, fast fault detection technology designed for grid-edge implementation on utility distribution lines.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Driving the research and development of state-of-the-art data-science algorithms involving advanced Digital Signal Processing and Machine Learning techniques - including Deep Learning
- Validating and commercialising AI and machine learning solutions leading to successful delivery to Eaton businesses
- Analysing high-resolution waveform data using spectral analysis techniques
- Driving the research and development of high-quality, labelled datasets to support algorithm development - including the design of experiments
- Documenting and demonstrating solutions by using flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, code snippets, and performance instruments
- Ensuring that functionality is usable, reusable, and extensible for data scientists across the enterprise
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master's Degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, or similar
- 5+ years involvement in the application of data science to solve real-world problems or 2 years+ following a PHD Degree
- Knowledge and experience creating practical signal processing and machine learning solutions for power systems, specifically related to time-series signal processing of electrical sensor measurement
- Highly skilled in the analysis of high-resolution waveform data using a wide range of analysis
- Extensive practical experience across multiple projects of developing algorithms involving state-or-the-art AI techniques, including digital signal processing, and machine learning - including deep learning
- Python , Matlab or Simulink expertise is a must
- Extensive awareness of data quality issues and practical experience of data cleaning
- Broad-based expertise in the IoT, Cyber-physical systems and edge computing
- Experience in optimising code, identifying bottlenecks, and maximising performance on constrained hardware
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts and solutions
- High comfort engaging with academic literature
