PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The primary function of the Quality Engineer is to ensure that all products meet stringent aerospace industry quality standards and customer requirements. This role focuses on maintaining compliance with AS9100 standards, driving continuous improvement, and resolving quality issues through effective problem-solving and collaboration. The Quality Engineer supports production, customer satisfaction, and organizational goals by implementing robust quality assurance processes and methodologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and maintain adherence to aerospace quality requirements.
• Lead internal and external audits, including customer and certification audits, and address non-conformities effectively.
• Support the creation and revision of quality procedures, policies, and work instructions.
• Utilize tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone Diagram to identify and resolve quality issues.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns.
• Perform inspections using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
• Interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T, to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) according to AS9102 standards.
• Use statistical software like Minitab to analyze data and improve processes.
• Develop and maintain control charts, capability studies (Cp, Cpk), and gage R&R studies.
• Monitor trends and drive data-based decision-making.
• Conduct supplier audits and ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
• Address and resolve supplier quality issues through collaboration and corrective actions.
• Lead and support Lean Six Sigma projects to optimize processes and reduce waste.
• Implement PFMEA, DFMEA, and control plans to identify and mitigate risks.
• Manage customer-specific portals and requirements, including Boeing, Airbus, and others.
• Provide timely responses to customer complaints, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
• Train team members on quality standards, tools, and methodologies.
• Act as a technical resource and mentor for quality-related initiatives.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Engineering degree from accredited institution.
• 1-3 years' of experience in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• No relocation assistance is available for this role. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Camarillo CA.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with AS9100 Quality System and product/process auditing techniques.
• Detailed knowledge of Aerospace product, manufacturing processes and inspection techniques.
• Experience in aerospace products and applications.
• Experience in Root Cause Analysis .
• Experienced Internal or Lead Auditor (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485) preferred.
• ASQ certification (Quality Auditor, Engineer, or Manager) .
• Excellent communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written with ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to Eaton management and customer.
• Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
• Experience in Quality Management System Requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple projects/activities; results driven.
• Process-oriented and ability contribute to continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements.
• Must exhibit a high level of motivation, sense of urgency, and energetic approach to job duties and requirements.
• Schedule flexibility to be on-site during weekend operations as needed (typically 5 weekends annually).
