Eaton's IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Press Operator - 2nd Shift.

The hours for this role are 3:00pm-11:00pm

Training for this role will be 7am - 3pm

The hourly rate for this position is $29.89 per hour.

What you'll do:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Set-up and operate mechanical, hydraulic. pneumatic, foot and bending presses. set-up and operate slitters to cut stock to proper widths, also hand slit materials as required. Set up Hovis Die in Press.
  • Work from prints, methods sheets, operation sheets, sketches and/or verbal instructions with little or no methods to produce parts in accordance with acceptable quality and quantity levels.
  • Perform stamping operation to blank and plerce springs, washers. betlows plates, pierce windows in cups, slotting, blanking scallops in housing and stamping and blanking of special parts.
  • Set-up and operate pneumatic bench press with special bending futures to bend various size springs. Temper springs after bending to prescribed methods to get proper spring loads. Test sample lots first, using link spring checker.
  • Bend large wave springs by hand, temper as required to obtain required spring loads. Insert carbons in housing and other types of seals. Heat treat mating rings submit stock for lab analysis. Maintain record. Deburr a variety of parts using file, grinder or drill press, mark parts if necessary with information on print or as instructed, using Vibro-Pencil. Operate Engine
  • Lathe to stretch bellows assembly, deburr and polish various parts. Also cut rubber for hydraulic dies.
  • Inspect, punch and die at completion of run possible sharpening or conditioning. Sharpening or conditioning done by others.
  • Responsible for checking own work with micrometer and/or scale. Notify Supervisor when tools become dull and require sharpening.
  • Check or otherwise determine acceptability of components in various stages of manufacture, in relation to established specification limits in accordance with established techniques and procedures for Machine Seal Stamped Products under
  • Certified Operator Program.
  • Report defective material, difficulties or unusual conditions to Supervisor.
  • Operator will be part of a team with a continuous improvement goal, to improve quality, lower cost and improve service.
  • Maintain work area, equipment and tools in clean and orderly condition. Observe prescribed safety precautions, company rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Over three months of press operator experience
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Must live within 50 miles of the Rumford location

Skills:

  • Initiative and Ingenuity: Requires use of detailed instructions and some judgement in the set-up and operation of various presses. Some minor decision making required in testing sample lots with spring checker and carrying out prescribed practices and procedures.
  • Physical Demand: Moderate physical effort, continually working with light or frequently with average weight material.
  • Mental or Visual Demand: Continuous mental and visual attention required in the operation of various presses, slitters and/or stamping machine. Diversified duties require continuous alertness.
  • Responsibility for Equipment or Process: Probable loss or damage to equipment; such as, presses, slitters, etc., due to carelessness could result in losses of over $95.00 but seldom over $950.00.
  • Responsibility for Material or Product: Loss through damage to products could result in losses of over $38.00 but seldom over $378.00.
  • Responsibility for Safety of Others: Only reasonable care with respect to own work necessary to prevent injury to others.
    Proper use of equipment should keep accidents minor in nature.
  • Responsibility for Work of Others: Responsible for own work only.
  • Working Conditions: Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to exposure to dirt and chips from grinders and slitters. Exposed to various elements occasionally, but usually not at the same time.
