Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Panelboard Shipping - B Shift. The core hours are Monday through Friday from 5:00 am-1:30 pm. The rate for this position is $16.25 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you'll do:

In the Material Handler role, you will provide manufacturing expertise and support in the Storeroom and production area including, but not limited to, allocation of materials, planning, verifying, and pulling parts for shipping with the overall goal of timely order fulfillment and adherence to Eaton's quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • You will exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton's quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process. Perform quality checks as instructed.
  • You will receive and carry out work assignments from coordinators, supervisors, and internal customers to fulfill customer orders promptly. Closely follow established procedures for completing assigned functions and perform special assignments and/or projects as assigned.
  • You will comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment safely and competently. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals and keep the assigned work area clean and organized per 5S standards.
  • You will work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignments.
  • You will exhibit analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve any obstacles or delays that may occur in the production process.
  • You will perform Lean Initiatives by recommending suggestions for improvement related to quality, work processes, and environmental safety and health.
  • You will apply labels, stickers, and stencils as required for identification and ease of storage or shipping, utilize a scanner, and perform cycle counts of components. Escalate discrepancies to the proper authority.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Must have previous forklift experience.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs with reasonable accommodation.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of the Sumter facility (50-mile radius) will be considered for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer literate.
  • Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing or operations experience.
  • Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
  • A broad range of knowledge in materials planning, scheduling, receiving, shipping, and tracking systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend bills of material and pick sheets.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, DMM, AS400, Mapics, & Outlook.

Position Criteria

  • Strong verbal and written communication, persuasion, and analytical problem-solving skills. Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within a team environment.
  • Willingness to be trained to operate cranes, and yard trucks to transport and locate equipment and materials to required areas.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Expected to work with some degree of independence and make decisions that affect the workgroup. Focus efforts on attaining assigned goals and objectives, which include meeting the needs and expectations of internal and external customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 35 pounds with or without accommodation. The employee is frequently required to push/pull up to or greater than 35 pounds with or without accommodation. The vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate. Incumbents must be able to stand for extended periods. Repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting are inherent to this position.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to noise and frequently exposed to dust.
