Eaton's ES AMER NAS division is currently seeking a Outside Sales Digital Solutions Engineer. This is a home-based position and candidates must reside within 50 miles of the following locations to be considered for this position: Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; Smyrna, GA; Nashville, TN; Orlando, FL; Tampa; FL or Greenville, SC. Relocation assistance will be offered for successful applicants who live outside of these locations.
What you'll do:
Position Overview:
As a member of the digital sales team, this position will focus on the sales of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Demand Response (DR) solutions within a specified region of North America. Along with AMI and DR solutions, this position will sell or refer others to support selling additional digital offerings such as distribution automation, substation automation, planning software or any third-party applications such as Eaton may have a relationship with. This position is responsible for calling on, primarily, public power electric cooperatives, public utility districts and municipal utilities to develop compelling value propositions for potential customers in the firm's target markets. The role may also call on investor-owned utilities for Demand Response solutions.

In this function you will:
- Establish working relationships and frameworks with strategic customers that identify articulated and unarticulated needs and collaboratively develop solutions
- Establish working relationships with key influencers and decision makers within utility industry, cooperatives, municipalities and public power organizations
- Determine market segmentation, identify key target accounts and execute a strategic sales plan for those accounts
- Leverage key relationships as needed to identify emerging needs and solutions
- Review RFPs and providing content and direction as necessary through the entire procurement process
- Effectively develop, maintain and manage a sales funnel pipeline in the Eaton CRM tools
- Effectively manage manufactures representatives, channel partners and work with local sales engineers to find, develop and win sales opportunities at utility accounts in a large territory
- Review RFPs and providing content and direction as necessary through the entire procure
- Develop formal presentations for both internal and external use
- Provide insight to product marketing and engineering regarding current and future product direction
- Work with regional project management, service sales and proposals teams
- Work with division product line assemblies and components teams
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum seven (7) years of industry experience in selling solutions to utilities
- Possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Experience selling AMI and/or DR solutions
Skills:
Position Criteria:
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
- Basic understanding of AMI and DR solutions and their value to utilities
- Understanding of electrical distribution systems for utilities
- Knowledge of competitor products and channels in the utility industry
- Experience managing complex technical sales processes with long cycles
- Pipeline management and cold calling experience
- Strategic selling or similar training
- Ability to lead teams without direct authority
- Strong drive for results and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently
- Work in team environment and influence key internal and external stakeholders
- Solid business acumen and decision-making skills
- Due to the nature of this customer facing role, an average of 50% travel is required and could be higher at certain times
The compensation range for this full-time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $142,500 - $209,000.
Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
