Eaton's Electrical Engineering & Services Division division is currently seeking a Microgrid - Distributed Energy Resource Proposal Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $123,900 - $181,700 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

This is a remote role with 25% travel throughout the Northeastern United States as long as you reside near the following areas:

What you'll do:

As a Microgrid - Distributed Energy Resource Proposal Engineer, you will:

• Develop proposals for Microgrid control and complete turnkey systems, including integration with battery suppliers, distributed generation suppliers and electrical, civil, structural and mechanical subcontractors, as required. Other microgrid proposals include feasibility studies, microgrid switchboard proposals, microgrid controller only, and other types of microgrid solutions that are not necessarily turnkey in nature.
• Respond to requests from Project Operations Managers, Sales, Utility / Cooper & Other Reps, Channel Partners, Market Segment Managers (Utility, Industrial, Government, Commercial), etc.
• Develop pricing working with supply chain, vendors, subcontractors and internal Eaton groups.
• Travel as required for site-visits, customer meetings and sales training meetings.
• Perform detailed project specification analysis, conduct equipment specification review, and provide creative solutions beyond the standard specifications to provide greater customer value.
• Understand Contracts terms and conditions and risks
• Support monthly reporting of proposal activities to Project Operations
• Other responsibilities may include supporting proposals related to other projects within the following segments: Utility (distribution / transmission and generation), Hydro modernization, Oil & Gas (Substation and Switchgear).

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with electrical power systems and/or energy storage/alternative energy solutions.
  • No relocation is being offered for this role. Only candidates residing in the locations listed on the job posting will be considered. Active-duty military candidates are exempt from this requirement.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years minimum electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with additional experience in electrical power systems, microgrid / energy storage construction. Technical knowledge of common forms of renewable energy and how they are applied include solar (pv & thermal), wind generation, hydro generation, energy storage and classical generation assets (diesel, natural gas, steam)
• Experience in writing and reviewing vendor and subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance.
• Experience with risk evaluation and risk management.
• Field experience in electrical and / or civil construction and system integration including experience in substation and switchgear associated with electrical power systems.
• Estimating experience for reference and comparison in substation, switchgear and electrical system installations. Additional past experience with substations, generation plants, micro-grid and battery storage is preferable.

Skills:

POSITION CRITERIA:

• Familiarity with power generation concepts such as Solar Power, Wind Power, Different types of Energy Storage Systems and technologies, Diesel/Gas Generation and other types of energy assets.
• Knowledge and understanding of best engineering practices for design of power distribution systems, automation systems, power management systems, human-machine interface software, PLC programming, relay controls, cybersecurity, etc.
• Ability to support proposals for Microgrid control schemes based on a standardized and custom hardware platform and applications.
• Technical writing capabilities
• Computer drafting or other drawing software knowledge to promote the solution.
• Experience with proposal development in both private sector and government bids.
• Presentation Skills to promote the proposed solutions to the customer
